Wellman Family at Iliff Commons - Fun family fall session - Topeka's Best Family Photographers

This blog post is long overdue but such a great session. We took these at Iliff Commons last fall. It was beautiful and the colors on the trees made the best backdrop for their session. We laughed a ton and got the best expressions. I think at first maybe the kids didn't plan on smiling that much but we quickly got them out of their shell lol. Here's some of our favorites! Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Interview with Deacon Crumpton - SFT Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Deacon was fun to hang out with. He is very photogenic and capturing his personality and energy was a blast. We had such a great evening to get these images of him. And even though we took these pretty much in the dead of winter, you'd really never know. The temps were great and the trees looked incredible in the glow of the setting sun. It was such a great session to document this special time in Deacon's life. I admire him and know he'll do great things in life. His discipline and positive outlook will guide him in the future! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. She is growing by leaps and bounds and I am so thankful to have her on our team! She's someone I always appreciate having around!
