Lukas - Washburn Rural High School Class of 2023 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Photographing Lukas was a blast. We actually did the entire shoot at Washburn Rural and so that was nice to try to make the most of one location. What’s funny was when we started, he told us that these portraits were more for his mom than for himself but after just a little while, he was having a great time and I knew he was enjoying himself. The time flew by and before we knew the session was over. We ended up with an extremely creative shoot showing off his passions in life, football and basketball and his jeep! I absolutely love the images we ended up with. Thank you for checking out his shoot!
T.H. Peterson: What activities are you involved in and how have they shaped your life? Lukas: Football and basketball, they have shown me what hard work can do. 
T.H. P.: What is the one sacrifice you would not be willing to make, even if it meant solving all of the world’s problems?
Lukas: Giving up the family and friends I have. 
T.H. P.: What trend or fad are you most embarrassed about being a part of Lukas: Frosted tips. 

T.H. P.: What advice do you have for incoming freshmen? Lukas: Enjoy every moment. 
T.H. P.: What has been the highlight of your senior year?
Lukas: I don’t know yet.
T.H. P.: Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?
Lukas: Being with friends and family in a comfortable life. 
T.H. P.: What is your greatest fear and have you ever tried to face it?
Lukas: Snakes and no never. 
T.H. P.: If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be?
Lukas: Getting out there more and telling myself to do something I normally wouldn’t.
T.H. P.: What was  your favorite part about your session with us?
Lukas: The cool effects and smoke and the people.

Now this was a special session! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. She is growing by leaps and bounds and I am so thankful to have her on our team! She's someone I always appreciate having around! What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes. She’s already gotten the nickname of Coco as well, which is so cute.  T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house?
