Wallisch Family - Summer Portraits in Osage County - Topeka's Best Family Photographers

We had a great time with Andi and Derek and the family. 10 years ago we photographed their wedding and to celebrate Andi wanted to do some in the same location we took wedding photos at. It was a nice throwback and the perfect backdrop for their wedding. I asked them, "does it feel like 10 years??" Because to me it definitely did not! They are such a photogenic family and it was a great time capturing these special moments with them. One special touch was when Magnolia got dressed in Andi's dress. She looked so beautiful and it was touching to see how emotional Andi got seeing her daughter dressed up. Magnolia looked so adorable! Here's a few of our favorites from their session. Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. That photo shoot resulted in amazing pictures and also a job for me! I’m Sarah, one of Tommy’s photo assistants and this spring my extended family met Tommy at Osage lake for our family photo shoot. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Mr Walter is such a precious little baby! We had a great time posing him and working with him. He has such a sweet face. It was really special creating these images for mom and dad and also being able to incorporate them into the session. Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Interview with Deacon Crumpton - SFT Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Deacon was fun to hang out with. He is very photogenic and capturing his personality and energy was a blast. We had such a great evening to get these images of him. And even though we took these pretty much in the dead of winter, you'd really never know. The temps were great and the trees looked incredible in the glow of the setting sun. It was such a great session to document this special time in Deacon's life. I admire him and know he'll do great things in life. His discipline and positive outlook will guide him in the future!
