A couple weeks ago we made our way down to Wichita for an awesome family session with Courtney, Jose and their two beautiful kids Kali and Ashea'lee. These guys were so nice and easy going and baby Ashea'lee was literally only days old. She did surprisingly amazing for being so young and doing them outdoors. The session was short and sweet but they did amazing. Here's just a few of our favorites from the session.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing MaKayla from Silver Lake during an early morning sunrise session at her school. We started on the softball field, and the sky put on the most colorful display — pinks, oranges, and purples that made the perfect backdrop for her softball photos. Grace and Andrew's big day - The Lincoln Event Space - Ottawa, KS - Wedding

Grace and Andrew’s wedding at the Lincoln Event Center in Ottawa, Kansas, was absolutely beautiful! The day was hot and sunny, but we made the most of it and captured some gorgeous photos before the ceremony with the bridal party. The Lincoln Event Center, a charming old post office that’s been remodeled into a stunning venue, was the perfect backdrop for their big day. Grace and Andrew looked so happy, and every detail came together wonderfully. The celebration that followed was full of joy, laughter, and plenty of dancing! Guests enjoyed an amazing Mexican meal that was authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable. The energy on the dance floor was contagious as everyone came together to celebrate Grace and Andrew’s love. Interview with Zachary Robinson - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Zach’s senior session was absolutely killer! We started downtown and then finished at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting, and the lighting could not have been more perfect. Zach brought his guitar along, and it was easy to see how passionate he is about playing. He’s completely self-taught and doesn’t even read sheet music — just plays by ear and feeling. That made his session feel so personal and unique, and it really showed off his talent and personality. Zach is such a fast learner and such a nice guy. He made the whole session fun and easy, and his great attitude really shined through in every photo.   Isaac’s senior session was such a fun one! We started at the baseball field at Washburn Rural, where his love for the game really stood out. He lit up talking about it, and you could tell it’s a big part of who he is. Isaac was so personable and easy to talk to—he had a great smile and was just a genuinely nice guy. The conversation flowed naturally, and I felt totally at ease around him. After the field, we headed to Clarion Woods for some nature shots, and then finished the evening at B&B Theatres just as the sun went down. Meet sweet baby Kinsley! She came to our studio for her newborn session, and what a beautiful baby she is. Kinsley had the most expressive little face—we saw so many emotions and adorable looks from her during the session. She even gave us the tiniest little smile, and it melted our hearts. Her mom, Riley, couldn't stop talking about how special she is, and we could definitely see why. Kinsley is not only beautiful, but also full of personality already! Kinsley was such a dream to photograph. She was calm, cooperative, and happy to pose for us. Because she was so easygoing, we were able to try lots of different setups and ended up with more photos than we usually get at a newborn session! She truly was the perfect little model. We had such a fun evening with this amazing family at Shawnee Lake! They wore their Royals gear and looked great in the warm sunset light. We took a mix of posed and candid photos, and they made the session so easy with their laughter and close bond. It was clear how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. To end the night, they brought out sparklers and fireworks as the sun was setting behind the lake. It was such a cool way to wrap up the session, and it made for some really special pictures. I had a great time with them and loved capturing these moments. Lyncoln's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Meet sweet little Lyncoln! This adorable baby girl has so much personality already, and it was such a joy to photograph her. Mom and Dad were absolutely glowing with happiness as they cuddled her close. Dad especially couldn’t stop gushing over how perfect she is — it was so special to see how much love they have for her. Interview with Higgins Hawks - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a great time photographing Higgins, a senior from Washburn Rural High School. He’s such a cool guy with tons of confidence and personality, which really came through in his photos. We started his session in front of the Federal Home Loan Bank — a spot I’d never shot at before — and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and landscaping. It was the perfect backdrop for his dressy outfit and set the tone for some really sharp, classy images. After that, we headed to Cypress Ridge Golf Course to showcase Higgins’ passion for golf. The weather couldn’t have been better, and we captured some truly stunning shots of him out on the course. We wrapped up the evening at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting over the water, giving us the most perfect, glowing images to end the session. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

We had baby Abel in the studio for his three-month session, and he was such a joy to photograph! He wasn’t super smiley that day, but he had the cutest little face and gave us so many different expressions. You could tell he was really curious about everything going on around him—watching us with an inquisitive look the whole time. His big sister came along to help, and she did such a great job getting his attention. Thanks to her, we were able to capture some beautiful looks from Abel.
