Interview with Ashley Rietcheck - 2017 Rossville High School Grad - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had such an awesome time with Ashley! She was such an amazing subject! Don't believe me?! Just check out these photos!! Ashley was a great model and I loved her outfits and the locations we chose! It was a warm afternoon, I pretty much started sweating the second we stepped out the car lol but it was such an great shoot I didn't care! Part of why it was so humid is it was about to start raining! In fact as soon as we got to the Kansas Museum it started raining, but the amazing thing was how the clouds looked because of it! All around Ashley's session was the kind of shoot I love. She's super photogenic and was motivated and excited for everything we did! T.H. Peterson: What are you going to miss most about Rossville when you graduate?
Ashley: The small town community and being involved in all the great opportunities at Rossville High.
T.H. P.: Describe yourself with a song title.
Ashley: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift
T.H. P.: What are your plans after college? Dream job?
Ashley: My dream job would be to work for a big corporation as a CPA.
T.H. P.: What’s the best advice your mom has ever given you?
Ashley: Be your own person and do what you want to do without letting others bother you.
 T.H. P.: If you had to leave the state after graduation, where would you want to travel to?
Ashley: Probably Italy, I've always wanted to travel to a foreign country!
T.H. P.: Everyone has an awkward stage in middle school, what was that like for you?
Ashley: I had braces, glasses, and short hair, so it was very awkward.
T.H. P.: Tell us something that most people don’t know about you.
Ashley: I broke my arm twice by the time I was four years old.
T.H. P.: If you started a band, what would you name it, and what genre would it be?
Ashley: My sister Andrea, friend Abigail, and I have already started a band. We named it Triple A and specialize in Country Rock Band.
T.H. P.: What was your favorite part of your session with us?
Ashley: That would be almost getting fined by a cop at the Capitol. Also, I enjoyed having all four of you there to help make a wonderful session.
T.H. P.: If you were given a million dollars and one weekend to spend all of it, what would you do with it?
Ashley: I would definitely buy a new car, then take my family on a weekend vacation. The rest of the money would go to important people who have impacted my life.
T.H. P.: What is the most obscure thing you’ve done extensive research on?
Ashley: I did extensive research on house centipedes after I found one running around in my bathroom. It was disgusting!

Interview with Ty Steffens - Burlington High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Photographing Ty was a blast, he had such a laid back personality and was really easy to pose and direct. Lots of times senior boys take a while to get comfortable and into the shoot, Ty was having fun from the beginning! We took some on the golf course, out by the dam and we ended at Jade Seed and Outdoor Supply. That actually ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole shoot. It was a ton of fun! Interview with Zach Oswald - Lebo High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had the pleasure of photographing Zach, a senior from Lebo, Kansas, Class of 2025. We split his session into two parts to capture everything that makes him unique. The first session was all about his sports and some fun shots downtown. For the second, we headed to a gorgeous country property just outside of Lebo, and it couldn’t have been a better setting. The fall colors during the second session were absolutely stunning, making every photo feel warm and vibrant. Madison was such a blast to photograph! She’s super fun and full of energy, and her smile made every picture look amazing. We started her session downtown, then went to Ward-Meade Park, and ended near the Governor's Mansion at sunset. The golden hour lighting was so pretty, and it made her photos look magical. A proud Taylor Swift fan, Madison wanted to incorporate her love for the iconic artist into the session.  She made the whole session so fun, and I’m so happy with how the pictures came out. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Interview with Lauryn Gilfillan - Seaman High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Lauryn is one of the coolest seniors I’ve ever met. From the moment we started her session, I could tell she was completely herself—funny, creative, and so much fun to be around. We started downtown in Topeka, and she even brought a Funko Pop of herself, which made for some awesome and unique pictures. I wanted to make sure I captured her personality because she’s so colorful and full of life, and I think we nailed it! We also took pictures at the Cyrus Hotel, where she totally rocked the modern and classy vibe. After that, we ended at the Capitol, and the photos there turned out absolutely beautiful. Interview with Molly Worley - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Molly was amazing to photograph! She’s a senior at Washburn Rural High School, Class of 2025, and she was so beautiful and natural in front of the camera. We started her session with some fall portraits at sunset, and the colors were just perfect. The golden light made everything look magical, and Molly’s smile made every photo stand out. She was super easygoing, which made the session so much fun. After sunset, we headed downtown to Topeka for some cool nighttime shots. We ended up on top of a parking garage that had an awesome view of the city skyline. The lights of the city in the background made the photos look incredible. Molly looked stunning with the skyline behind her, and she just seemed so comfortable and confident in front of the camera. It was such a fun session, and her photos turned out amazing! T.H. Interview with Haley Custenborder - Topeka High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera. After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports. Our session with Keagan was incredible. We took some at the weight room at Washburn where we had a great time capturing his passion for powerlifting and then some with his motorcycle and out at their property with his dirt bike and just getting some incredible sunset images. Happy birthday Camille! First Year Photo Shoot - Cake Smash - Topeka's Best Baby Photographers

Camille’s first birthday cake smash was such a joy to photograph! We kicked off the session with some Christmas-themed photos, and she was all smiles, showing off so much personality. Camille was an absolute natural in front of the camera – she just lit up the room. Her expressions were priceless, and she made every shot a keeper! Once we moved on to the cake smash, things got even more fun! Camille went right for the cake with a curious look and then big, happy giggles as she dug in. It was adorable to see her tiny hands exploring the frosting and her face lighting up with each bite. This little girl truly brought joy and laughter to the whole session, making it a memorable way to celebrate her big milestone!
