Interview with Yulissa Ceja - Topeka West - Class of 2018 - Topeka's Best Senior Portrait Photographers

 WOW! I am beyond excited to share Yulissa's session today! When she first contacted us she told us she was interested in a desert look to her photos, if I knew any spots like that in Topeka. I had to think a long time about that one because nothing comes to mind right off hand but I eventually remembered a spot that would be perfect for her and it was. It was amazing and even though it was ridiculously chilly, the sun was out and helped warm us up a little and gave the portraits a beautiful look. Here are some of our favorites along with a nice interview with Yulissa.
T.H. Peterson: What do you like most about Topeka West?
Yulissa: The teachers! They’re very supportive and always make sure you’re doing good and get the help you need.
T.H. P.: What plans do you have after high school?
Yulissa: I want to finish washburn tech and get my Drafting certificate to work as a drafter and hopefully continue on going to school for Architecture.
T.H. P.: Favorite class this year?
Yulissa: I only have 4 classes this year so I’d have to say my Functions class is my favorite even though its stresses me out to the max! I’ve just always loved math and I love challenges so it’s the only class that doesn’t bore me this semester.
T.H. P.: Something you liked about your shoot with us?
Yulissa: It was like an adventure! Even though it was freezing it was still really fun going from place to place.
T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Yulissa: I LOVE adventures, i love being out in nature and being around animals.
T.H. P.: What stresses you out? What relaxes you?
Yulissa: School stresses me out this year. Trying to balance school and work this year is crazy. Something that relaxes me is doing my makeup to my favorite music.
T.H. P.: Biggest pet peeve?
Yulissa: My biggest pet peeve is being rushed.
T.H. P.: What would you consider a fun date?
Yulissa: a fun date would be going out to walk in a nature trail and eating tacos after that. Either that or going four wheeling, i’ve always wanted to do that!
T.H. P.: If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
Yulissa: If I could vacation anywhere it would probably be to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I love how festive and happy the people are. And their food is AMAZING!
T.H. P.: Famous person you admire and why?
Yulissa: Jenni Rivera. She started from literally nothing and went on to becoming a very big Mexican artist. She went through a lot of hard things but always got through them for her kids. She did everything by herself and it just goes to show how strong women really are and how much they are capable of doing all for their family!

Interview with MaKayla Connor - Silver Lake Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing MaKayla from Silver Lake during an early morning sunrise session at her school. We started on the softball field, and the sky put on the most colorful display — pinks, oranges, and purples that made the perfect backdrop for her softball photos. You could clearly see how much she loves the sport in every shot, and the sunrise made the whole scene feel really special. After we finished on the field, we headed inside the school to capture some awesome wrestling photos. Even though MaKayla recently injured her thumb, she didn’t let that slow her down one bit. Interview with Higgins Hawks - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a great time photographing Higgins, a senior from Washburn Rural High School. He’s such a cool guy with tons of confidence and personality, which really came through in his photos. We started his session in front of the Federal Home Loan Bank — a spot I’d never shot at before — and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and landscaping. It was the perfect backdrop for his dressy outfit and set the tone for some really sharp, classy images. After that, we headed to Cypress Ridge Golf Course to showcase Higgins’ passion for golf. The weather couldn’t have been better, and we captured some truly stunning shots of him out on the course. We wrapped up the evening at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting over the water, giving us the most perfect, glowing images to end the session. Reese Jentry's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Reese Jentry came to the studio for her session, and she was absolutely perfect! Mom and Dad brought along Dad’s Army uniform, and we were able to include it in some of her photos, which made the session so special and meaningful. It was such a beautiful way to honor his service and create a memory they’ll cherish forever. Reese was surrounded by so much love from Mom, Dad, and her two big brothers. They were all so smitten with her, and it was heartwarming to see how much she is already adored. Zach’s senior session was absolutely killer! We started downtown and then finished at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting, and the lighting could not have been more perfect. Zach brought his guitar along, and it was easy to see how passionate he is about playing. He’s completely self-taught and doesn’t even read sheet music — just plays by ear and feeling. That made his session feel so personal and unique, and it really showed off his talent and personality. Zach is such a fast learner and such a nice guy. He made the whole session fun and easy, and his great attitude really shined through in every photo. Meet sweet baby Kinsley! She came to our studio for her newborn session, and what a beautiful baby she is. Kinsley had the most expressive little face—we saw so many emotions and adorable looks from her during the session. She even gave us the tiniest little smile, and it melted our hearts. Her mom, Riley, couldn't stop talking about how special she is, and we could definitely see why. Kinsley is not only beautiful, but also full of personality already! Kinsley was such a dream to photograph. She was calm, cooperative, and happy to pose for us.   Isaac’s senior session was such a fun one! We started at the baseball field at Washburn Rural, where his love for the game really stood out. He lit up talking about it, and you could tell it’s a big part of who he is. Isaac was so personable and easy to talk to—he had a great smile and was just a genuinely nice guy. The conversation flowed naturally, and I felt totally at ease around him. After the field, we headed to Clarion Woods for some nature shots, and then finished the evening at B&B Theatres just as the sun went down. Meet sweet little Lyncoln! This adorable baby girl has so much personality already, and it was such a joy to photograph her. Mom and Dad were absolutely glowing with happiness as they cuddled her close. Dad especially couldn’t stop gushing over how perfect she is — it was so special to see how much love they have for her. We had such a fun evening with this amazing family at Shawnee Lake! They wore their Royals gear and looked great in the warm sunset light. We took a mix of posed and candid photos, and they made the session so easy with their laughter and close bond. It was clear how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. To end the night, they brought out sparklers and fireworks as the sun was setting behind the lake. It was such a cool way to wrap up the session, and it made for some really special pictures. I had a great time with them and loved capturing these moments. Abel's 3 month session - Adorable milestone session - Topeka's Best Baby Photographers

We had baby Abel in the studio for his three-month session, and he was such a joy to photograph! He wasn’t super smiley that day, but he had the cutest little face and gave us so many different expressions. You could tell he was really curious about everything going on around him—watching us with an inquisitive look the whole time.
