Kelsey and Riley are getting married! Downtown Topeka and KS Gov Mansion Engagement Session - Topeka's Best Wedding Photographers

 It's rare that I shoot a session, come home, edit and have it ready by the end of the night but I couldn't help myself. I was literally so excited, I had to! Riley and Kelsey were such great models and their session was so awesome that once I got started on their portraits, I had to keep going! It was such a perfect evening. No wind, beautiful weather, and it just felt amazing to be outside. Kelsey and Riley were tons of fun to photograph. They were super relaxed and laid back. We shared lots of laughs and smiles. Oh Skylar! A beautiful baby with thick black hair and an adorable presence, stole our hearts with her funny expressions and cooperative demeanor during our photography session with her. From fun poses to riding a unicorn, Skylar made every moment memorable. She is just so cute! She radiates joy and sweetness! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Skylar? Madi: When I first saw Skylar I couldn’t believe how big she was and how much hair she had. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Madi: It took us a long time to find a name we both liked. I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Janie and Jovie - Newborn session with Twins! Interview with Mom - Topeka's Newborn Photographers

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! They were perfect! What a wonderful session and what a special story mom has to tell! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you found out you were having twins? Taylor.: I was shocked and did not know anything about twins before being pregnant with them. I later found out identical twins are a fluke and do not run in families. It’s been been a learning experience for sure but I would not trade it for the world. T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw them? Taylor.: Due to complication of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, I had the girls via c-section at 29 weeks. My first glance  was brief before they were whisked away to the NICU.
