Interview with Grace Mlynek - Shawnee Heights Class of 2019 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits



 I've been meaning to get these up for a while now. We took these of Grace a while back and her session was amazing. We did start off in Topeka but shortly we went to a property out in the country where they had the cutest train track. It was a very special property that is very seldom photographed at and I felt honored to be able to capture these images for her there. All in all, she had an amazing session. Grace was an awesome subject and we had fun!!! Here's some highlights from her session. Hope you enjoy!
T.H. Peterson: Best thing about going to Shawnee Heights?
Grace: I really enjoy all the students. Everyone has lots of spirit. Going to games and cheering on teams.
T.H. P.: Plans after high school?
Grace: I’m undecided on what University, but I’m going to major in political science then go to Law school. Someday I would love to be in the Senate.
T.H. P.: Your goal for your senior year?

Grace: My goal is to get a key to the school lol.


T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to find out about you?
Grace: People are usually surprised by my interest in politics and social issues. 
T.H. P.: What did you enjoy about your shoot with us?
Grace: I really enjoyed the unique pictures. The backgrounds look unreal.
T.H. P.: Describe a dream vacation.
Grace: A dream vacation is getting to lay by the beach and soak up the sun while also getting time to explore the city and attractions.
T.H. P.: Truck, Sports car, Motorcycle or horse?
Grace: Sports car 100% 
T.H. P.: Favorite place to eat in Topeka?
Grace: El Mezcal, but only the one on Topeka Blvd.
T.H. P.: Favorite songs on the radio:
Grace: So many: Khalid 8teen, Julia Micheals Heaven, but my favorite song is riptide by Vance joy. 
T.H. P.: Describe your relationship with your mom.
Grace: My mom is my best friend. She’s the only person who really knows how to help me fix my problems and cheer me up. I’m really thankful she’s my mom!

Layton Lynne's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Layton was such a beautiful baby, and she gave us the sweetest little expressions throughout the whole session. I really loved getting to photograph these for mom and dad—it’s always special, but this one just felt extra meaningful. She made everything easy too. She settled in so well, posed like a pro, and we were able to get some really creative shots without much fuss at all. One of my favorite parts was incorporating the racing props since mom and dad are into demolition derby. Getting to pose Layton in one of their tires was just really cool and made the session feel so personal to them. And honestly, seeing how happy mom and dad were while holding her—that was the best part. You could just feel how much they love her. Kate and Adam's big day - Governor's Row House - Topeka Wedding Photography

Photographing Kate and Adam’s wedding was such a special experience. What was supposed to be a gray, rainy day turned into beautiful sunshine, and it honestly felt like everything just came together perfectly. Their venue had this warm, welcoming feel, and you could tell right away that this wasn’t just a wedding—it felt like a big family reunion. So many loved ones had traveled in, and the support from their family was obvious in every moment. The speeches were great, the father of the bride was so happy, and there were so many genuine smiles and happy tears throughout the day. Kate and Adam were an absolute joy to work with.   Grady was such a sweet little guy, and he had a full head of hair that just made him even more adorable. His two big sisters were completely in love with him, and it showed in every photo. They were so gentle and sweet, and honestly, I was really impressed with how interested and cooperative they were during the session. We were able to get some really beautiful images of all three of them together, and those moments felt really special. Tobias's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Tobias was seriously one of the sweetest little babies we’ve ever photographed. He had the cutest little face and the calmest personality, which made the whole session feel really special. Mom and dad were there soaking in every moment, and Grandma came along too—completely in love with her new grandson. You could just feel how much this little guy is already adored. Tobias was a perfect little model the entire time, giving us the sweetest smirks and tiny expressions that made it hard to put the camera down. They also brought along his older cousin, who’s still just a toddler, and getting photos of the two of them together was such a fun part of the session. Those moments were full of personality and so much cuteness. Bre and Trent Engagement Session - Osage Osage County Fishing Lake - Topeka's Best Engagement and Wedding Photographers

Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. The skies were that perfect deep blue, the light was beautiful, and everything just came together. What I loved most about this session was how much personality we were able to pull out of both of them. They were playful, relaxed, and totally themselves, which always leads to the best photos. Brynn and Justin's Engagement Session - Gridley, KS - Kansas Top Wedding Photographers

We started out on their property, and it was just incredible. Rolling fields, a classic Kansas sunset, and the kind of light you hope for every time. One of my favorite spots was this old wooden cross they had out in the field—it added such a meaningful, rustic touch. After that, we explored some abandoned buildings and then made our way to a farm nearby, which gave us even more variety. Everywhere we went just fit their vibe perfectly. We also got to include their little daughter, and she completely stole the show. So smiley, so expressive—just the cutest. The whole session felt easy and fun. Lots of laughs, some goofy moments, and just really good connection between them. You can tell how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Tate's newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish. You could just feel how much Mom and Dad adore him—there was so much love in every little moment, and it made capturing these images feel really special. Big brother was a huge fan right from the start. He was so proud, giving Tate hugs and kisses and wanting to be close to him the whole time. It was such a happy, fun session with so many genuine moments between them all.
