The Peterson's go to the pool - Jewel's first time! Personal blog post

 Moses has been asking to go to the pool for a while now. So today we finally went as a family. Jewel had a rough day teething so we thought the water might be a good distraction for her. Holly and I went shopping for swimsuits for the kids. We were most excited about Jewel's one piece. Sure enough, she was so cute!  We had a great time and look forward to going back. We went to Blaisdell Aquatic Center at Gage Park. There's lots to do, it's spread out and a lot of area for toddlers and babies... We only lost Olympas twice. We told him to stay close but he's fast!  Mo decided to do a cannon ball off the high dive and hurt his back, because he landed on it. So the rest of the time, he had to take it easy. Olympas probably had the most fun of anyone. He did not want to leave. And Jewel, took a few minutes to really soak in (pun intended) how incredible it was to be at a pool. In fact, this was her first time! She spent the first few minutes in somewhat of a shocked demeanor. After the shock wore off, she spent the rest of the time exploring, crawling, splashing and squealing happy noises. She endlessly tried to grab the water shooting out of the fountains. She will sleep good tonight. All of our kids will. So happy we got to go!

Reese Jentry's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Reese Jentry came to the studio for her session, and she was absolutely perfect! Mom and Dad brought along Dad’s Army uniform, and we were able to include it in some of her photos, which made the session so special and meaningful. It was such a beautiful way to honor his service and create a memory they’ll cherish forever. Reese was surrounded by so much love from Mom, Dad, and her two big brothers. They were all so smitten with her, and it was heartwarming to see how much she is already adored. Interview with Higgins Hawks - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a great time photographing Higgins, a senior from Washburn Rural High School. He’s such a cool guy with tons of confidence and personality, which really came through in his photos. We started his session in front of the Federal Home Loan Bank — a spot I’d never shot at before — and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and landscaping. It was the perfect backdrop for his dressy outfit and set the tone for some really sharp, classy images. After that, we headed to Cypress Ridge Golf Course to showcase Higgins’ passion for golf. The weather couldn’t have been better, and we captured some truly stunning shots of him out on the course. We wrapped up the evening at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting over the water, giving us the most perfect, glowing images to end the session. Interview with MaKayla Connor - Silver Lake Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing MaKayla from Silver Lake during an early morning sunrise session at her school. We started on the softball field, and the sky put on the most colorful display — pinks, oranges, and purples that made the perfect backdrop for her softball photos. You could clearly see how much she loves the sport in every shot, and the sunrise made the whole scene feel really special. After we finished on the field, we headed inside the school to capture some awesome wrestling photos. Even though MaKayla recently injured her thumb, she didn’t let that slow her down one bit. Grace and Andrew's big day - The Lincoln Event Space - Ottawa, KS - Wedding

Grace and Andrew’s wedding at the Lincoln Event Center in Ottawa, Kansas, was absolutely beautiful! The day was hot and sunny, but we made the most of it and captured some gorgeous photos before the ceremony with the bridal party. The Lincoln Event Center, a charming old post office that’s been remodeled into a stunning venue, was the perfect backdrop for their big day. Grace and Andrew looked so happy, and every detail came together wonderfully. The celebration that followed was full of joy, laughter, and plenty of dancing! Guests enjoyed an amazing Mexican meal that was authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable. The energy on the dance floor was contagious as everyone came together to celebrate Grace and Andrew’s love. Interview with Zachary Robinson - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Zach’s senior session was absolutely killer! We started downtown and then finished at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting, and the lighting could not have been more perfect. Zach brought his guitar along, and it was easy to see how passionate he is about playing. He’s completely self-taught and doesn’t even read sheet music — just plays by ear and feeling. That made his session feel so personal and unique, and it really showed off his talent and personality. Zach is such a fast learner and such a nice guy. He made the whole session fun and easy, and his great attitude really shined through in every photo. I had such a great time photographing Preston downtown on the 4th of July! He wanted to show off his patriotism, and he really brought the spirit with red, white, and blue clothes, an American flag, and some colorful smoke bombs. Even though it was the middle of the day and pretty warm, he had such a good attitude the whole time. His great smile and fun personality made the session really enjoyable. Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. Jayce's senior session was such a fun one! We started in the NOTO Arts District, where the colorful murals and artistic vibe gave us a great backdrop. The sun was low in the sky, casting a warm golden light that made everything glow. Jayce was easygoing and had a great smile, which made my job super easy. He brought a relaxed energy to the shoot, and we had a good time exploring the area and finding cool spots to shoot. After that, we made our way out to Shawnee State Fishing Lake just in time for sunset. The sky was glowing over the water, and it looked absolutely amazing. Interview with Brenner Beninga - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I’ve known Brenner for a little while now, and his senior session was exactly what I expected—full of energy, laughs, and plenty of shirtless moments (classic Brenner). We did his shoot at his family’s farm, which was the perfect spot for him. Between the pond, the barn, the greenhouse, and the chickens running around, it felt like home—and he was totally in his element. He pulled out toe touches, a backflip, and even some wrestling moves mid-session. Only Brenner could make a senior photo shoot feel like an action movie and a comedy show rolled into one. What I love about Brenner is that he’s always 100% himself. He’s hilarious, super athletic, and genuinely a good dude. He cheers, wrestles, trains MMA, and has big dreams of stepping into the cage one day—and I believe he’ll get there.
