Lainey's Maternity Session - Beautiful Osage County Session - Topeka's Best Maternity Photographers

 Recently we photographed Lainey and the family for her maternity session. As we speak, they've already had their baby so we will be seeing baby Asher soon!!!  They were in such high spirits and the day could not have been more beautiful. Their session was fun and adorable. I really love this family, they are such a precious group of people. Greyson will be such a great big brother. He was so happy and well behaved, I was VERY impressed with him! He's a doll! Interview with Hunter Kirkwood - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

It was such a great morning photographing Hunter for his senior session at the lake. When we arrived, we were surprised at how empty the park was. It made the whole session feel peaceful and relaxed, and it gave us plenty of space to capture some great photos. The morning started off cloudy and a little dreary, but by the end of the session the sun began to come out, giving us some beautiful light to finish with. The whole setting felt calm, comfortable, and just really enjoyable. One thing that stood out right away about Hunter was how easy he was to talk to. He has a great personality and made the session feel very natural. We had some great conversations while walking around the lake and finding different spots for photos. Linley's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Linley was such a beautiful little baby, and she already looks so much like her mama. One of the first things you notice about her is her hair—it’s lighter in color, but so incredibly thick that you can’t miss it. Most of the time with blonde babies, it’s hard to tell just how much hair they have, but not with Linley. She has a full head of it, and it photographed so beautifully. She was calm, sweet, and made the session feel easy from start to finish. We were also able to capture some really special moments with her big sister, who absolutely adored her and loved being part of the session. Grandma was there too, helping out and making sure everything went smoothly, which always makes a difference. Baby Penelope was absolutely adorable and had a full head of beautiful hair that everyone noticed right away. Her mom was completely crazy about her, and it was so sweet to see the love between them during the session. Penelope was such a calm baby most of the time, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed and peaceful. Even when she had a few little fussy moments here and there, she settled right back down and kept everyone smiling. One of my favorite things about Penelope was how expressive she was. She gave us the cutest little smiles, tiny smirks, and even some sweet cooing sounds while we photographed her. Those little moments made the session feel extra special. There are sessions that just feel special from the start, and Lovelyn was one of those babies. She was so sweet, so cute, and had the most calm, mild-mannered personality. She made my job easy with her adorable little expressions and how relaxed she was through most of the session. Toward the end she got a little fussy, but even then she was still so good. It’s always amazing how much personality can already show up in such a tiny little human, and Lovelyn definitely had it. What made this session even more meaningful for me was getting to photograph Hunter again—this time as a mom. I took her senior portraits several years ago, and now here she is with a baby of her own. That’s one of the things I love most about what I do, getting to be part of these moments as life comes full circle. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Zoey Jean and Katy Jo's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Our recent newborn session with Katy Jo and Zoey was truly a joy from start to finish. These sweet little babies were absolute angels, and even though it was a bit of a challenge at times, we were able to capture some truly beautiful moments. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our new assistants to get hands-on experience, and they did an amazing job helping during the session. Mom was completely smitten with her girls, and you could see the pure love and joy in her eyes as she watched them throughout the session. Having her mom there to lend a hand made the experience even smoother and more special. Beyond just capturing photos, this session was a meaningful experience for our team. We loved being able to create lasting memories for this family and were honored to be a part of such a tender time in their lives.
