Interview with Tara Green - Lyndon High Class of 2023 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

This was a great shoot! Absolutely beautiful day and we took these all over downtown Lawrence. Such a colorful and gorgeous place. I loved interacting with Tara. She is very photogenic and she was a real natural in front of the camera. All of these locations were her ideas and her planning made this a very memorable shoot. We felt super comfortable with her and are so excited to share her session with you!

T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school?

Tara: After high school, I plan on attending the University of Kansas to major in Pharmacy.

T.H. P.: What would you consider a dream job?

Tara: I’m not really sure what my dream job would, but I know I want to be able to travel and educate people.

T.H. P.:  Describe your relationship with your sisters?

Tara: I would say I’m close with both of my sisters. I have a really close bond with my sister Natalie because we are both in high school together.

T.H. P.: What are some of your proudest moments in dance?

Tara: I love dancing and some of my proudest moments are probably dancing with my competition team to get a platinum rank and watching the underclass girls on my high school team grow over these last 4 years. I really couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to dance with.

T.H. P.: What is something you enjoyed about your session with us?

Tara: I really loved how easy it was to talk to Tommy and his assistant.

T.H. P.: What kind of student are you?

Tara: I’m a good student. I take my academics very serious.

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Tara: I’m terrified of birds.

T.H. P.: If you had $1000 and you had to spend it in one store where would you go?

Tara: Target

T.H. P.: Favorite drink. 

Tara: Dr Pepper.

T.H. P.: Favorite show on Netflix or channel on YouTube Tara: Anne with an E

Tara: I’m okay sleeping with the closet door open.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes. She’s already gotten the nickname of Coco as well, which is so cute.  T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house?
