Interview with Addison Swart - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Addison was absolutely amazing to photograph! She is so photogenic and a lot of fun to hang out with. We had the challenge of rainy weather but were able to capture some creative images using the rain. We used their loft overlooking Topeka which was just perfect and then we took some in different areas downtown. It was cold and windy and rainy but you would never know it was unpleasant given the expressions and look on her face. She was a pro! These are a handful of our favorites! We hope you enjoy!

T.H. P.: What would your dream job be?
Addison: An athlete. 









T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Addison: I used to play tennis, dance and swim. 
T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident?
Addison: My coaches, my family. When I get my hair and nails done.

Addison: Tacos.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! Emily and Jacob's Magical Wedding at Stony Point Hall - Beautiful Kansas celebration - Lawrence, Topeka, KS Wedding Photographers

Jacob and Emily’s wedding was like something out of a fairytale. Held at the charming Stony Point Hall, just a short drive from Baldwin and Lawrence, it was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. The venue, Stony Point Hall, was the perfect backdrop for their special day. Nestled in the countryside, it exudes rustic charm and elegance, setting the scene for a dreamy celebration. Oh Skylar! A beautiful baby with thick black hair and an adorable presence, stole our hearts with her funny expressions and cooperative demeanor during our photography session with her. From fun poses to riding a unicorn, Skylar made every moment memorable. She is just so cute! She radiates joy and sweetness! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Skylar? Madi: When I first saw Skylar I couldn’t believe how big she was and how much hair she had. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Madi: It took us a long time to find a name we both liked. After a few weeks of going through names we finally agreed on Skylar. T.H. I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th
