Small Business Showcase - LifeTech Diagnostics - Topeka, KS
T.H. Peterson: Can you tell me a little bit about LifeTech and what you guys do?
LifeTech: Based in Topeka, KS, LifeTech Diagnostics is an accredited high complexity clinical testing laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment established to address the testing needs in our community. We offer reliable, expedited infectious disease testing (ex SARS-COV2, Influenza), hematology (blood composition), non-invasive prenatal testing and ultrasound imaging (sonography). We will soon be bringing online blood chemistry assays that will include a comprehensive metabolic panel, and immunology assays for various hormone testing.
LifeTech Diagnostics is a COLA-accredited laboratory, which means our clinical laboratory is compliant with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
T.H. P.: Where are you guys located?
T.H. P.: Do patients need to be referred to you by a doctor?
T.H. P.: What are your plans for the future?
LifeTech: Our plans for the future are to bring online in demand diagnostic testing services that will provide an affordable, local option for our neighbors and friends in the Topeka community.
Jennifer Henry (Ultrasound Technician): Jennifer is one of Topeka’s most experienced certified ultrasound technicians. She has over 20 years of experience in her field with a reputation for excellent patient service and care.
Jayson Quicksall (Clinical Scientist): Jayson is a relatively recent graduate of Washburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Since joining LifeTech Diagnostics in October of 2020 he has been a major factor in our lab’s ability to provide same day results for COVID PCR testing.
Alan Mattox (Director of Lab Operations/Technical Supervisor): Alan has over 20 years of molecular lab experience and is certified in Molecular Biology by the American Society of Clinical Physicians (ASCP). He came back to Topeka to help start a diagnostics laboratory after years of working for a large clinical laboratory located in Kansas City. His decision to come “home” was based on the opportunity to directly work with and for the people of our local community.
Dr. Whitney Wedel, M.D.(Lab Director): Dr. Wedel joined our team in April of 2022. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Nebraska in 2015. She has been a tremendous asset in our pursuit to bring blood testing to our lab menu.
We a partner with Highland Medical lab as we operate in the same facility. Trisha Osier and her staff collect the majority our patient samples. You can see in our company reviews the appreciation our clients have for their care and service.
T.H. P.: How have you marketed yourself to the public?
LifeTech: Marketing has not been our focus at this point. We do partner with Solve Heath to provide our clients an easy way to set and schedule appointments.

We have had over 212 reviews on Solv and have a 4.9/5.0 rating from our clients.
T.H. P.: What would you like the public to know?
LifeTech: Our mission is to provide the community an affordable option in care. We do not have the high overhead costs that many large organizations must factor in when pricing diagnostic or ultrasound services.
We are very proud of our patient service. During the peak of the COVID testing the last couple of years, some labs had patients waiting 4-5 days for COVID PCR results, 99% of our patients saw results the same day. This meant that our patients were either able to get back to work faster or were able to protect their loved ones from possible exposure sooner.
