Small Business Showcase - Payne Financial Strategies, Inc. - Lyndon, KS

In the summer, we began a project where we started doing Small Business Showcases for local businesses. It’s been a great experience and we have worked with lots of great businesses in the process. We are now in late summer / early fall and this is the busiest time of year so we haven’t been able to do many of these showcases but when we slow down again, we will start doing them again! This was one our latest small businesses we’re showcasing on the blog and I’m excited to share these guys with you. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson:  How long have you been with New York Life?
Joshua: Kevin started in the industry 28 years ago in Topeka, KS and Payne Financial Strategies was formed and headquartered in Lyndon about 22 years ago.

T.H. P.:  Can you tell me a little bit about what you do and how you serve the public?
Joshua: We are a fee-based financial planning firm. This means we provide financial planning services for a fee but we can also provide investments and insurance protection solutions to our clients. We have a goals-based approach to financial planning to discover clients financial goals and build a strategy to help them achieve them.

T.H. P.:  What products and services are your most popular?
Joshua: Individual Retirement Accounts and professional insurance coverages are our most popular services provided. Individual Retirement Accounts are often needed as people transition from one job to another and we have a specific niche in providing association sponsored insurance

coverages for veterinarians which is very popular. Financial planning surrounding family owned business transitions is also a very common service we provide, often to our veterinarian clientele.

T.H. P.:  What misconception does the public have about what you do? Joshua: The biggest misconception we hear from the community is that we are an insurance brokerage firm and provide home and auto insurance. We solely work with insurance products that protect or provide income to clients such as life insurance, disability insurance, long term care or annuities.

T.H. P.:  How do you build trust with your clients?

Joshua: We focus on our core values and our trust and relationships with clients build naturally. Our core values are: Passion, Specialized Knowledge, Communication, and Superior Customer Service. We strive to

make these values evident to our clients as they work with us.

T.H. P.:  What area do you serve?

Joshua: We are currently licensed in and serving clients in 40

states. Much of our client base are veterinarians and reside beyond our local community however, we are proud to provide services to our local friends and family as well. The increase in the capabilities of technology have made servicing our distant clients much more user friendly but we still enjoy traveling to meet with clients in person.

T.H. P.:  Where are you located and how can people reach you?
Joshua: We are currently transitioning to our new temporary home in Osage City, however we have a location acquired for a future permanent headquarters in Lyndon that we look forward to opening in the next 2 years.

T.H. P.:  Can you tell me a little bit about your crew?
Joshua: We are blessed to have a great crew. We seek to maintain our family office environment and the team we have is considered family to us and by many clients. Currently our team consist of two financial

advisors* - Kevin and Joshua, a licensed agent - Angie, an office manager and financial controller - Laura, a licensed client service associate - Randy, a licensed paraplanner - Jesina, and two part time staff. Additionally, we have a robust support team of financial planners and portfolio specialist through our Registered Investment Adviser firm, Eagle Strategies, LLC, whom we are associated with.
