Interview with Leah Simpson - Shawnee Heights Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Leah is a very unique and fun young lady! I could tell she was a little shy or introverted at first but I KNEW I liked her. She is funny, smart, silly and cool. I knew almost immediately I would have a blast photographing her and her session ended up being one of the most fun sessions this year! We started off in Barnes and Noble and that ended up being way better than going to the library. If you like books, what a perfect spot! She had way more than what I posted here, but these were just some of my favorites!

T.H. Peterson: How is school going this year?

Leah: The work is easier than junior year so far, but I wish I had more

classes with my friends.

T.H. P.: What are you planning on doing after high school? 

Leah: I’m planning to go to Wichita state university and double major

in American Sign language and Education.

T.H. P.: What would your dream job be? 

Leah: A teacher and writer/author.

T.H. P.: What books would you recommend everyone read? 

Leah: One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid and you’d be home now by Kathleen Glasgow. 

T.H. P.: What do you love about books so much? 

Leah: They’re a nice escape from reality, and they help to show me other perspectives and situations that I wouldn’t be able to see or experience otherwise. 

T.H. P.: Earliest memories reading?

Leah: Going to the public library with my family to pick out and read books together.

T.H. P.: What is something you enjoyed about your shoot with us? 

Leah: I liked how many random and fun ideas that they kept coming up with-specifically at Barnes and Noble.

T.H. P.: Favorite thing to do when you get home from school? 

Leah: When I get home I like to play piano and sit outside while I do my homework.

T.H. P.: What music are you obsessed with? 

Leah: My favorite artists right now would probably have to be Noah Kahan and Harry Styles.

T.H. P.: How would friends describe you?  Leah: They would say I’m quiet around people I don’t know well, but louder and kind of weird with my friends and family.

Grace and Andrew's big day - The Lincoln Event Space - Ottawa, KS - Wedding

Grace and Andrew’s wedding at the Lincoln Event Center in Ottawa, Kansas, was absolutely beautiful! The day was hot and sunny, but we made the most of it and captured some gorgeous photos before the ceremony with the bridal party. The Lincoln Event Center, a charming old post office that’s been remodeled into a stunning venue, was the perfect backdrop for their big day. Grace and Andrew looked so happy, and every detail came together wonderfully. The celebration that followed was full of joy, laughter, and plenty of dancing! Guests enjoyed an amazing Mexican meal that was authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable. The energy on the dance floor was contagious as everyone came together to celebrate Grace and Andrew’s love. It was a day full of happy memories and beautiful moments that they’ll cherish forever.  Now for the fun part! A beautiful slideshow that highlights awesome memories and moments from the day!

Reese Jentry's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Reese Jentry came to the studio for her session, and she was absolutely perfect! Mom and Dad brought along Dad’s Army uniform, and we were able to include it in some of her photos, which made the session so special and meaningful. It was such a beautiful way to honor his service and create a memory they’ll cherish forever. Reese was surrounded by so much love from Mom, Dad, and her two big brothers. They were all so smitten with her, and it was heartwarming to see how much she is already adored. We captured some amazing images of the whole family together, as well as some of Reese all by herself. I just love how her photos turned out — so sweet and full of love! T.H. Interview with Higgins Hawks - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a great time photographing Higgins, a senior from Washburn Rural High School. He’s such a cool guy with tons of confidence and personality, which really came through in his photos. We started his session in front of the Federal Home Loan Bank — a spot I’d never shot at before — and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and landscaping. It was the perfect backdrop for his dressy outfit and set the tone for some really sharp, classy images. After that, we headed to Cypress Ridge Golf Course to showcase Higgins’ passion for golf. The weather couldn’t have been better, and we captured some truly stunning shots of him out on the course. We wrapped up the evening at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting over the water, giving us the most perfect, glowing images to end the session. Interview with MaKayla Connor - Silver Lake Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing MaKayla from Silver Lake during an early morning sunrise session at her school. We started on the softball field, and the sky put on the most colorful display — pinks, oranges, and purples that made the perfect backdrop for her softball photos. You could clearly see how much she loves the sport in every shot, and the sunrise made the whole scene feel really special. After we finished on the field, we headed inside the school to capture some awesome wrestling photos. Even though MaKayla recently injured her thumb, she didn’t let that slow her down one bit. Interview with Zachary Robinson - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Zach’s senior session was absolutely killer! We started downtown and then finished at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting, and the lighting could not have been more perfect. Zach brought his guitar along, and it was easy to see how passionate he is about playing. He’s completely self-taught and doesn’t even read sheet music — just plays by ear and feeling. That made his session feel so personal and unique, and it really showed off his talent and personality. Zach is such a fast learner and such a nice guy. He made the whole session fun and easy, and his great attitude really shined through in every photo. I had such a great time photographing Preston downtown on the 4th of July! He wanted to show off his patriotism, and he really brought the spirit with red, white, and blue clothes, an American flag, and some colorful smoke bombs. Even though it was the middle of the day and pretty warm, he had such a good attitude the whole time. His great smile and fun personality made the session really enjoyable. Preston is an athlete too, but we decided to save that part of his story for another session. This time was all about celebrating the holiday and capturing his love for his country. Meet sweet baby Kinsley! She came to our studio for her newborn session, and what a beautiful baby she is. Kinsley had the most expressive little face—we saw so many emotions and adorable looks from her during the session. She even gave us the tiniest little smile, and it melted our hearts. Her mom, Riley, couldn't stop talking about how special she is, and we could definitely see why. Kinsley is not only beautiful, but also full of personality already! Kinsley was such a dream to photograph. She was calm, cooperative, and happy to pose for us. Meet sweet little Lyncoln! This adorable baby girl has so much personality already, and it was such a joy to photograph her. Mom and Dad were absolutely glowing with happiness as they cuddled her close. Dad especially couldn’t stop gushing over how perfect she is — it was so special to see how much love they have for her. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop.
