Interview with Hannah Olsen - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Hannah’s senior session was such a joy to photograph! We started out at a farm where she could be in her element with her horse. You could instantly tell how much riding means to her—it’s a huge part of her life, and it showed in the way she lit up around her horse. She has such a natural presence in front of the camera, and her beautiful smile made every photo shine.

From there, we headed out into the country just in time for golden hour. The light was perfect, warm and glowing, and it created such a beautiful backdrop for her photos. We ended the session at Kaw River Park, where Hannah not only posed by the water in the setting sun but also got right in. Not many seniors are willing to do that, but she was all for it, and the images turned out phenomenal. With her parents there cheering her on, it made the evening even more special. I couldn’t be happier with how her pictures turned out—they truly captured her personality and passion.

T.H. Peterson: What are your favorite classes this year?
Hannah: I have 2 favorite classes this year. I have enjoyed Photo Imagining and Culinary. I also have a favorite teacher who is not one of my current teachers and she has had a very positive impact in my education.

T.H. P: What are your plans after high school?
Hannah: I am going to attend college but I am not certain of what field of study. I have an interest in working in the equestrian world and I am still exploring the options.
T.H. P: What would your dream job be?
Hannah: I have had 2 really good horse trainers and I would be happy training future riders and horses.
T.H. P: What kind of student are you?
Hannah: I feel like I'm a student who learns from being hands on instead of sitting in a classroom being taught.
T.H. P: How long have you rode horses?
Hannah: I started riding about 5 years ago with a family friend who owns horses. After learning the basics for about 4 months, I moved to a trainer who taught Hunter/Jumper (jumping over rails). During competitions, I have jumped over 3" jumps.

T.H. P: Favorite thing about that?
Hannah: I really enjoy having a bond with the horse. I have really loved developing a relationship with my horse Lucca for the past 2 years. I feel like I am a better rider by having a good relationship with the horse.

T.H. P: Something you liked about your session with us?
Hannah: I felt very comfortable and not pressured to do certain poses. The lighting and sunset was perfect for taking pictures and really made the experience enjoyable.
T.H. P: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Hannah: I am a big Sporting KC soccer fan and can be found in the Cauldron for most of the home games.
T.H. P: How would friends describe you?
Hannah: That I am genuinely a nice person and a loyal friend.
T.H. P: What makes you feel confident?
Hannah: When I get a compliment from someone. I also feel really good when I'm around positive people who don't judge me.
