Interview with Ashlie Cortes - 2017 Washburn Rural High School Grad - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

 Ashlie's session was KILLER!! She totally rocked her session!! Ashlie has a smile she should be proud of. I loved her smile. I loved her eyes! We had the most amazing session with her! It was a beautiful afternoon, a little warm but an incredible afternoon nonetheless. We started at the governor's mansion and ended downtown where the weather was nicer and cooler lol. So happy with how Ashlie's session turned out!! Here's a few of our favorites!! Hope you enjoy! Make sure to check out her interview as well!
T.H. Peterson: What’s your favorite thing about going to Washburn Rural? Ashlie: How the education is tough and makes you think and work hard.
T.H. P.: So you are a softball catcher, what’s the worst injury you’ve ever had? 
Ashlie: When I got hit with a softball bat and got cleated.
T.H. P.: What is something you do when you’re bored to pass the time? 
Ashlie: Play on my phone or watch Netflix.
T.H. P.: You work at Sonic, what’s your favorite drink combo? 
Ashlie: The most basic drink cherry limeade.
T.H. P.: What’s the most things someone has ordered in a drink combo? 
Ashlie: Green apple, grape, watermelon, Powerade and peach.
T.H. P.: What’s your favorite color and why? 
Ashlie: Blue because there are so many combinations of that color.
T.H. P.: What makes you fell confident?
Ashlie: My smile since I got braces.
T.H. P.: Describe your relationship with your sister? 
Ashlie: We are super close and tell each other everything.
T.H. P.: Your session was awesome! What did you think? 
Ashlie: I loved every second.
T.H. P.: What’s the best thing on the radio right now? 
Ashlie: Nothing because it's all the same I like older music.
T.H. P.: What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done? 
Ashlie: Surviving a big injury I didn't think I'd get through.

Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. I recently had the joy of photographing sweet little Dannie for her newborn session. She is absolutely precious and so tiny! It feels like just yesterday I was capturing her big sister's newborn photos, and it's always such a treat to see this wonderful family again. They are completely in love with their newest addition, and you can feel the joy and love they have for her in every moment. Some of my favorite images from the session were the ones with her mom, dad, and big sisters. You can see the special bond they all share, and those photos really show how much love surrounds Dannie. Shelbi is a senior at Shawnee Heights High School, and photographing her was such a joy! We started at her home, and her backyard was like a hidden park—full of gorgeous spots for pictures. Shelbi has the sweetest personality and a smile that lights up every photo. She was so easygoing and fun to be around, which made the session feel relaxed and natural. After that, we made our way to Shawnee Lake, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The sun was setting right over the water, giving us the most beautiful golden light. Reese Jentry's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Reese Jentry came to the studio for her session, and she was absolutely perfect! Mom and Dad brought along Dad’s Army uniform, and we were able to include it in some of her photos, which made the session so special and meaningful. It was such a beautiful way to honor his service and create a memory they’ll cherish forever. Reese was surrounded by so much love from Mom, Dad, and her two big brothers. They were all so smitten with her, and it was heartwarming to see how much she is already adored. I had such a great time photographing Higgins, a senior from Washburn Rural High School. He’s such a cool guy with tons of confidence and personality, which really came through in his photos. We started his session in front of the Federal Home Loan Bank — a spot I’d never shot at before — and I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and landscaping. It was the perfect backdrop for his dressy outfit and set the tone for some really sharp, classy images. After that, we headed to Cypress Ridge Golf Course to showcase Higgins’ passion for golf. The weather couldn’t have been better, and we captured some truly stunning shots of him out on the course. We wrapped up the evening at Kaw River Park just as the sun was setting over the water, giving us the most perfect, glowing images to end the session. I had such a great time photographing Preston downtown on the 4th of July! He wanted to show off his patriotism, and he really brought the spirit with red, white, and blue clothes, an American flag, and some colorful smoke bombs. Even though it was the middle of the day and pretty warm, he had such a good attitude the whole time. His great smile and fun personality made the session really enjoyable. Preston is an athlete too, but we decided to save that part of his story for another session. This time was all about celebrating the holiday and capturing his love for his country. Jayce's senior session was such a fun one! We started in the NOTO Arts District, where the colorful murals and artistic vibe gave us a great backdrop. The sun was low in the sky, casting a warm golden light that made everything glow. Jayce was easygoing and had a great smile, which made my job super easy. He brought a relaxed energy to the shoot, and we had a good time exploring the area and finding cool spots to shoot. After that, we made our way out to Shawnee State Fishing Lake just in time for sunset. The sky was glowing over the water, and it looked absolutely amazing. A few weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing MaKayla from Silver Lake during an early morning sunrise session at her school. We started on the softball field, and the sky put on the most colorful display — pinks, oranges, and purples that made the perfect backdrop for her softball photos. You could clearly see how much she loves the sport in every shot, and the sunrise made the whole scene feel really special. After we finished on the field, we headed inside the school to capture some awesome wrestling photos. Even though MaKayla recently injured her thumb, she didn’t let that slow her down one bit. Briar’s senior session at the Kansas History Museum was such a joy to photograph! Even though we shot in the middle of the day, the light was absolutely amazing, and it lit up her great smile in every photo.
