Interview with Sophie Maples - Washburn Rural HS - Class of 2018 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits
Very excited to share our session with Sophie. She is a senior at Washburn Rural HS. Her ideas for her shoot were to start at the Kansas Historical Museum and do some at Ward Meade Park as well. Both were great locations for her. I loved our session with her. She was very fun to hang out with. Lots of good conversation and I LOVED her laugh. Made me happy. She was a wonderful model and I love how beautiful her images turned out! This blog post includes highlights from her shoot as well as an interview we did with her. Hope you enjoy!
T.H. Peterson: Best thing about going to Washburn Rural High School?
T.H. Peterson: Best thing about going to Washburn Rural High School?
Sophie: I think it's the people that I've been able to meet and build relationships with. I have also had a lot of fun being in Stuco since freshman year. I like it because it's been a great opportunity to see ideas actually come to life and it's been fun having a hand in planning a lot of special school events.
T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?
Sophie: I'm going to attend Wichita State and major in HR Management and minor in psychology.
T.H. P.: You mentioned you're a big fan of history. What are some of your
favorite historical figures and why?
Sophie: It would have to be President Kennedy because he's so interesting to read about and he continues to inspire every generation of Americans that have come after him.
T.H. P.: Favorite outdoor activity?
Sophie: Hiking, I guess...
T.H. P.: Best advice your mom or dad ever gave you?
Sophie: Both of them have always taught me that I shouldn't change myself for who I'm around or anything like that. It's been especially helpful coming into high school and going into college when I'm meeting so many new people.
T.H. P.: What is the best song on the radio right now?
Sophie: Believer by Imagine Dragons.
T.H. P.: What's your biggest pet peeve?
Sophie: People who walk slowly in front of me in the hallways...or anywhere.
T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Sophie: I was born pigeon-toed and that if my parents and I are driving through literally any town I will read all of the buildings and signs that we pass.
T.H. P.: What's the prettiest landscape you've ever seen in Kansas?
Sophie: We were driving...somewhere, and I remember I looked out the window and I saw like this real hilly landscape with super green trees and grass, and everything looked so perfectly placed, it was really cool.
T.H. P.: What kind of movies do you like best?
Sophie: Comedy movies are my favorite. Specifically Clue and Mean Girls.
T.H. P.: We had an amazing time with you! What is something you enjoyed about your shoot with us?
Sophie: Thank you! I enjoyed how actually fun it was, to be honest I was nervous but I actually had a lot of fun and really enjoyed it. I also liked that it was in a "real" place, so to speak, it wasn't just in a studio and I could go to a place that I actually feel comfortable in and love.
