Interview with Tate Wells - Lyndon High Class of 2020 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Tate had a really unique session out past Gridley on his father’s land!  We started out down an old gravel road, and Tate got to pose with his truck, Red Robin!  Then we advanced to another old gravel road, stopping at an old barn for some killer shots!  On past the barn was God’s Country… heaven on earth. We got into the field and there were rolling hills and cattle as far as the eye could see.  Tate lucked out with an incredible orange Kansas sunset! After some shots on the dock at the pond, we ended the session at the scoreboard in Lyndon.  It was a touchdown! Thank you for checking out his session and we hope you enjoy!
 T.H. Peterson:  What are your plans after high school?
Tate:  I plan on going to K-State for Agriculture.
 T.H. P.:  What kind of music do you like?
Tate:  I like country music.
 T.H. P.:  What activities are you involved in?
Tate:  I am involved in Football, Track, FBLA, and FFA.
 T.H. P.:  Describe the place we took your senior pictures and its significance to you.
Tate:  We took pictures on the land that we just got a couple years ago and run a ton of cattle on.
 T.H. P.:  Where is your favorite place to eat?
Tate:  My favorite place to eat would be at home. Nothing better than a home cooked meal.
 T.H. P.:  Who has inspired you the most so far in life?
Tate:  I would say my dad has inspired me most. He has taught me almost everything I know and I couldn’t be more grateful.
 T.H. P.:  What was your favorite thing about your session with us?
Tate:  I loved it all but my favorite thing would probably be all the random jokes.

 T.H. P.:  What is your favorite subject in school?
Tate:  My favorite subject would be science but my favorite part of school would be weights.
 T.H. P.:  Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Tate:  In 10 years I plan on seeing myself in a mirror. No but I don’t really do that whole thinking ahead thing.
 T.H. P.:  How have your goals changed since you started as a freshman to now?
Tate:  Well I didn’t really have any goals other than get better for football and I think I’ve gotten a little better lol.

Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. Dannie's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

I recently had the joy of photographing sweet little Dannie for her newborn session. She is absolutely precious and so tiny! It feels like just yesterday I was capturing her big sister's newborn photos, and it's always such a treat to see this wonderful family again. They are completely in love with their newest addition, and you can feel the joy and love they have for her in every moment. Some of my favorite images from the session were the ones with her mom, dad, and big sisters. You can see the special bond they all share, and those photos really show how much love surrounds Dannie. Shelbi is a senior at Shawnee Heights High School, and photographing her was such a joy! We started at her home, and her backyard was like a hidden park—full of gorgeous spots for pictures. Shelbi has the sweetest personality and a smile that lights up every photo. She was so easygoing and fun to be around, which made the session feel relaxed and natural. After that, we made our way to Shawnee Lake, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The sun was setting right over the water, giving us the most beautiful golden light. Jayce's senior session was such a fun one! We started in the NOTO Arts District, where the colorful murals and artistic vibe gave us a great backdrop. The sun was low in the sky, casting a warm golden light that made everything glow. Jayce was easygoing and had a great smile, which made my job super easy. He brought a relaxed energy to the shoot, and we had a good time exploring the area and finding cool spots to shoot. After that, we made our way out to Shawnee State Fishing Lake just in time for sunset. The sky was glowing over the water, and it looked absolutely amazing. Briar’s senior session at the Kansas History Museum was such a joy to photograph! Even though we shot in the middle of the day, the light was absolutely amazing, and it lit up her great smile in every photo. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

I had a great time photographing Paxton, a senior at Silver Lake High School. We took most of his photos on the football field and in the weight room—two places that really show who he is. Paxton is not only a football player but also a dedicated powerlifter. He throws up some seriously impressive numbers, and it was awesome to capture that strength and focus on camera. Paxton brought his mom and girlfriend along for the session, and we got some great images with both of them. You can tell he’s got a strong support system, and that always makes a difference. April and John’s engagement session at Liquid Art Winery in Manhattan, KS was an absolute dream. The rolling hills made the perfect backdrop, especially as the sun began to set and cast a warm golden glow across the landscape. The weather couldn’t have been better—clear skies, soft light, and just the right breeze. Even more special, we took their photos at the exact spot where they’ll be saying “I do,” which made the whole session feel even more meaningful. These two were so easy to photograph. Interview with Ki-Bo Throssell - Royal Valley Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Ki-Bo’s senior session at Ted Ensley Gardens was one of my favorites this year. We got up early to catch the sunrise over the lake, and even though rain made us postpone the first try, it was worth the wait. The sky was full of dramatic clouds that made the morning light extra beautiful. Ki-Bo was absolutely stunning and so natural in front of the camera. Her smile and sweet giggle made every photo feel full of life. We explored the whole garden, finding so many great spots and angles to work with. From the lake views to the flowers and trees, every background seemed to match her calm and joyful spirit. Ki-Bo made my job easy, and I’m so happy with how her photos turned out.
