Cash's Adorable Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers


Cash was such an adorable little chunk!  His blue eyes and little jelly rolls were so cute!  He was such a good boy during his session, too!  We absolutely adored meeting him and his parents!  What a great newborn session!  Thank you for checking out this handsome little guy!  Enjoy!


T.H. Peterson: How did you react when you found out you were expecting a baby?

Annsley: We were both really excited when we found out. We both knew that we were ready to start a family and we were finally able to do that. I obviously found out first and I told Mike by giving him a box full of baby stuff with the pregnancy tests in the box.

T.H. P.: How did you announce your pregnancy to your family?

Annsley: It was around father's day when we decided to tell our families. My dad got a grill for father's day and we were the ones to pick up the grill and take to his house. We put a bag inside the grill with an outfit and a book in it. They were really confused at first and it took them a while to catch on. They were both excited to be grandparents again. We wanted to tell Mike's family in person but they were gone the day that we planned on telling them. We decided to just put an outfit and a baby book at their house and told them they had a surprise waiting for them when they got home.

T.H. P.: What foods did you crave? 

Annsley:  I didn't crave much. I kind of craved spaghetti. I did have food aversions. Before pregnancy, my favorite food was steak. During pregnancy, I could not stand steak or the smell of it. I also did not like pork chops or really any grilled food besides hamburgers.

T.H. P.: Who does Cash look like?

Annsley: Cash definitely has my coloring, but we cannot decide on who he looks like. Sometimes he looks like me and sometimes he looks more like Mike. We can't decide. He might be the perfect mix of both of us.

T.H. P.: What was your favorite part of your newborn session with us?  

Annsley: I enjoyed the whole newborn session. We were shocked by how well you handled a newborn and kept him happy during the whole session. You were very patient when he was getting hungry and allowed us to take a break to feed him and get him settled back down.

We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life.
