Interview with Jackson Lay - Topeka West Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Jackson is a cool dude and we had a lot of fun hanigng out. We took some at Gage park and then headed downtown and into NOTO. He has the best smile and was super easy to photograph! I've known and photographed Jackson for several years and so this was an honor to be able to do this for him! These are some of my favorites. Thanks for checking out his session!

T.H. Peterson: What got you into welding?

Jackson: What got me into welding is that it looks fun and I like building things.

T.H. P.: What would you like to do after high school?

Jackson: I would like to be a welder and help make things. 

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your shoot with us?

Jackson: What I liked about the shoot was that Tommy made it fun and funny. 

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you ?

Jackson: I've was bowling since I was 3 years old. 

T.H. P.: What do you like to do when you get home from school?

Jackson: What I like to do when I get home when I get out of school is to play video games and to talk to friends. 

T.H. P.: Can you tell me about your obsession with bison?

Jackson: I love bison because ever since I was little I love them and they are my spirit animal. 

T.H. P.: What will you miss about high school?

Jackson: What I would miss about high school is spending time with my friends at lunch and classes. 

T.H. P.: Favorite thing mom cooks?

Jackson: My favorite of my mom’s cooking is meatloaf and mashed potatoes. 

T.H. P.: Favorite thing to watch on youtube or netflix, etc

Jackson: My favorite Netflix show is Breaking Bad. 

T.H. P.: What song could you listen to over and over?
Jackson: Favorite songs to listen to over and over is Jelly Roll’s Creature and Hardly Sold Out. Those are two songs I listen to over and over.

Photographing Ty was a blast, he had such a laid back personality and was really easy to pose and direct. One of my favorite families! I was blessed to see these guys at one our last studio events this year and we got some beautiful images of their family! I love their sense of humor and relationship with each other, they're a great group! I was blessed to photograph Austen's senior photos almost 10 years ago and then Jonathan and then Sara. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Collier - Rees Family on the Farm - Beautiful Generation Session - Topeka's Best Family Photographers

Photographing the Rees and Collier families is always a joy, and their recent generational session was no exception. We gathered at mom and dad’s family farm, where the kids grew up—a stunning countryside backdrop complete with a red barn and grazing horses. It was the perfect setting to celebrate their family’s love and history. The session was filled with smiles and laughter, with the kids stealing the show with their adorable grins. Mom and dad beamed with pride, surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Capturing these special moments in a place so meaningful to their story was truly an honor. Interview with Madison Turner - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Madison was such a blast to photograph! She’s super fun and full of energy, and her smile made every picture look amazing. We started her session downtown, then went to Ward-Meade Park, and ended near the Governor's Mansion at sunset. The golden hour lighting was so pretty, and it made her photos look magical. A proud Taylor Swift fan, Madison wanted to incorporate her love for the iconic artist into the session.  She made the whole session so fun, and I’m so happy with how the pictures came out. Interview with Haley Custenborder - Topeka High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera. After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports. Fenoglio-Hight Family in the studio - Heartwarming generation family session in the studio - Osage county and Topeka Family Portrait Photographer

This holiday season, I had the pleasure of photographing the Hight and Fenoglio family in our studio. With the whole family together for Christmas, it was the perfect opportunity to create beautiful portraits that will be treasured for years to come. I've been blessed to photograph them often and capture beautiful moments for them often.  The session took place in front of a simple, neutral brick background of our studio, which gave the photos a warm and classic feel. Interview with Zach Oswald - Lebo High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had the pleasure of photographing Zach, a senior from Lebo, Kansas, Class of 2025. We split his session into two parts to capture everything that makes him unique. The first session was all about his sports and some fun shots downtown. For the second, we headed to a gorgeous country property just outside of Lebo, and it couldn’t have been a better setting. The fall colors during the second session were absolutely stunning, making every photo feel warm and vibrant. I really enjoyed meeting and photographing Kylee. She is so photogenic and was a natural in front of the camera! Leslie and Kevin tie the knot! Louisiana / Kansas Wedding Photographers

Recently I had the honor of photographing my cousin Leslie on her and Kevin's big day! It was so good to see family and friends that I rarely get to see. Basically only when I go down to visit. Normally, I don't post more than thirty pictures or so for a wedding, but I thought it would be nice to show more of the full story.
