Interview with Brayden Hawks - Elkhorn South High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Image
Brayden and his family made the trip down from Omaha for his senior session, even though they're originally from the Topeka area. We actually had to split his session into two days because it started raining during the first one. At the time it was a little disappointing, but it ended up working out for the best. We were able to photograph in several completely different locations, from downtown streets and a grungy industrial look to beautiful architecture and finally the Kansas River. The extra time gave us even more variety, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Brayden was so easy to photograph. He has a great personality, was confident in front of the camera, and brought a lot of different styles that really fit each location. Whether we were showing his love for show choir, his fashion sense, or just capturing who he is, every part of the session felt natural. His mom came along too, and since she's a photographer herself and has even helped us wit...

Theodore's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Image
Theodore was such a joy to photograph! He was an adorable, chunky little guy with the sweetest expressions and the calmest personality. From the moment he settled into his session, he made my job easy. We were able to try several different poses, and he stayed relaxed through it all. His little smiles and curious looks made for some incredibly cute photos that really show off his personality. It was also wonderful spending time with Theodore's family. Mom and Dad are absolutely crazy about their new little boy, and it was easy to see how much love surrounds him. We had a lot of fun creating these portraits together, and I especially love how the images capture this special season in their lives. I can't wait for them to look back on these photos years from now and remember just how tiny, cuddly, and lovable Theodore was. T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Theodore? Hope: When I first saw him I thought about how excited I am to have another baby to love and ...

Interview with Tristan Craig - West Franklin High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Image
I had the best time photographing Tristan for his senior portraits. We started at Ward-Meade Park, where we had this incredible variety of backgrounds. The sun was shining, giving us a warm, golden glow. Then, we headed over to the NOTO district, and it was just bursting with color. Every corner was vibrant, and Tristan really lit up, especially when we brought his tuba into the shots. I’ve been photographing him since he was little, so it was really special to see him grow into this moment. I could tell he was having a blast, and so was I. I really could see his personality come through, and it was such a nice session and I really love how these turned out! T.H. P.: What classes do you like most? Tristan: Classes I have with people I can talk to. T.H. P.: What will you miss about high school? Tristan: I will miss not being able to see my friends on a schedule. T.H. P.: Plans after high school? Tristan: Attend college for music education. T.H. P.: What do you like about playing ...

Interview with Sadie Craig - West Franklin High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Image
Senior sessions like Sadie's are the ones that really get my creative side going. She has such a unique style, and from the moment she showed me examples of the kinds of photos she loved, I knew this wasn't going to be a typical senior session. She was drawn to dramatic, cinematic, and darker images, and I couldn't wait to bring those ideas to life. Of course, we made sure to capture the classic smiling portraits everyone loves, but some of my favorite images from her session were the ones where we pushed ourselves creatively with dramatic lighting, movement, interesting posing, and a little bit of artistic storytelling. Those are the sessions that remind me why I love what I do. We photographed Sadie and her brother Tristan together, taking turns throughout the evening, but their sessions ended up having completely different personalities. We started at Ward-Meade Park before heading to NOTO, which felt like the perfect place for someone as artistic as Sadie. The colorful ...
