Interview with Hunter May - Royal Valley - Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Image
Meet Hunter—a smart, competitive, and funny senior with a passion for cross country and a bright future ahead. We had the pleasure of photographing his senior session starting downtown, then moving to a rustic field near Shawnee Lake. The setting sun gave everything a warm, golden glow, and the beautiful weather made for a perfect evening. Hunter was so easy to work with—cooperative, kind, and quick to smile. His family came along for the session, and everyone was in a great mood, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Hunter first got into cross country his sophomore year and has loved the sport ever since. He’s motivated by his competitive spirit and the chance to see his girlfriend at practice. He doesn’t even listen to music while running—he likes to train the way he races: focused and in the moment. After graduation, he plans to attend K-State and become an athletic trainer. We’re excited to see where the road takes him, and we’re so glad we got to be part of celebr...

Interview with Ki-Bo Throssell - Royal Valley Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Ki-Bo’s senior session at Ted Ensley Gardens was one of my favorites this year. We got up early to catch the sunrise over the lake, and even though rain made us postpone the first try, it was worth the wait. The sky was full of dramatic clouds that made the morning light extra beautiful. Ki-Bo was absolutely stunning and so natural in front of the camera. Her smile and sweet giggle made every photo feel full of life. We explored the whole garden, finding so many great spots and angles to work with. From the lake views to the flowers and trees, every background seemed to match her calm and joyful spirit. Ki-Bo made my job easy, and I’m so happy with how her photos turned out. I know these images will be such a special part of her senior year! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? Ki-Bo: I would like to start off at Haskell and then move to Washburn for Physical or Occupational Therapy. T.H. P.: Earliest and fondest memories playing basketball? Ki-Bo: My earliest ...

Interview with Paxton Willmet - Silver Lake Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Image
I had a great time photographing Paxton, a senior at Silver Lake High School. We took most of his photos on the football field and in the weight room—two places that really show who he is. Paxton is not only a football player but also a dedicated powerlifter. He throws up some seriously impressive numbers, and it was awesome to capture that strength and focus on camera. Paxton brought his mom and girlfriend along for the session, and we got some great images with both of them. You can tell he’s got a strong support system, and that always makes a difference. He’s got a great smile, an easygoing personality, and he’s clearly smart and driven. I have no doubt he’ll do big things in the future! T.H. Peterson: Dream job? Paxton:   A financial advisor T.H. P.:   Song you listen to every time you workout? Paxton:   Animal I Have Become T.H. P.:   What fitness goals do you have? Paxton:   To squat 500 pounds T.H. P.:   Something you liked about your session with ...

Jayton's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Image
Sweet baby Jayton came in for his newborn session, and oh my goodness—what a perfect little guy! We photographed his mama’s maternity session not too long ago, so it was so special to see her again and meet this beautiful boy. Jayton was calm, peaceful, and even gave us a little smile during his photos. He was such a chill baby and made my job so easy! His older siblings came along for the session too, and they were just as adorable as he was. This whole family is just the sweetest! We styled most of Jayton’s photos in soft green tones, and it suited him perfectly. He looked absolutely angelic, and I loved capturing these quiet, cozy moments. Welcome to the world, Jayton! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Jayton? Krista: Well he was over 4 weeks early so he came out MUCH smaller than my other kiddos (by over 2 lbs) and they ended up taking him to the NICU right away… but when I finally got to see him all I could think about were how long his fingers were and that he...
