Katy and Ben's engagement session! Rural country session - Topeka Wedding Photographers

 Thanks for checking out our engagement session with Katy and Ben! It was our first engagement session of the year. And this year as much as it was predicted to be crazy harsh winter weather, it's been for the most part fairly mild. And this day was no exception. It was definitely windy but the weather was beautiful and wonderful and the light was amazing! We did these at the same place where they'll be having their reception and it has quite the view. Very beautiful and scenic. Katy and Ben first met me in a noisy coffeehouse. But over all the music and noise, I knew almost instantly that I would love these guys! They are so friendly and happy and just plain awesome. They are such a great couple. Lots of fun to be around and shooting their engagement session was a blast. I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful senior named Jahara from Topeka High. We started her session in downtown Topeka and then headed to Ward Meade Park, which gave us the perfect mix of urban and natural backgrounds. Jahara looked stunning with her amazing makeup and radiant smile—she truly didn’t take a single bad photo! We had so much fun with her, laughing and chatting the whole time. We had the pleasure of photographing Noah for his senior session in Manhattan. Originally from Oregon, he now calls Kansas home and attends Manhattan High. Ava was absolutely beautiful for her senior portrait session! We had an amazing time capturing her both in the studio and outdoors, and every shot turned out stunning. One of the highlights of her session was getting to include her adorable big dog, Goose. He was such a sweetheart, and the photos of them together were just perfect! When we headed outside, it was freezing ! But Ava came prepared with her cowhide blanket, and let me tell you—it looked incredible. I even told her she looked like she just stepped out of a catalog! I recently photographed a branding session with Andy McKee , an incredibly talented guitar player. I hate to just call him just a guitar player, he was very versatile with his playing... an amazing talent. We chose Iliff Commons for the location, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The lighting, the weather—everything came together beautifully. It created a warm and natural backdrop that matched the mood we wanted for his photos. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Meet sweet baby Amelia! She was an absolute dream during her newborn session—so smiley and full of sweetness. She slept soundly, letting us gently pose her, and was the perfect little model. Zendaya was an absolute dream to photograph! She was calm, sweet, and full of the most precious expressions. From tiny smiles to curious looks, she gave us so many beautiful moments to capture.
