Interview with Syeria Matthias - Shawnee Heights Class of 2018 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

 As you can see, we took these back when it was nice and warm out! Doing some catching up on our blog and today's blog post is from Syeria's session. She had some fun images from out at Bettis field playing soccer and afterwards I challenged myself to find locations I had never shot at. We ended up with a really great well rounded session. Syeria has a great smile and she was a lot of fun to photograph. I loved the photo with her cat and the warm photos in the field are several of my favorites as well!
T.H. Peterson: What do you like most about Shawnee Heights high?
Syeria: The classes they are able to offer.
T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?
Syeria: After high school, I am going to be attending a community college somewhere. To forward my education in school and in soccer.
T.H. P.: How did you get into soccer?
Syeria: Getting into soccer was easy, I started playing when I was 10, I just didn’t think softball was physical enough for me.
T.H. P.: What did you like most about your shoot with us?
Syeria: That y’all are able to make them entertaining. Not just smile and pose kinda thing.
T.H. P.: What is the best movie you've seen this year?
Syeria: Everything Everything was the best movie.
T.H. P.: Favorite song on the radio right now?
Syeria: Favorite song would be Slow Hands by Niall Horan.
T.H. P.: Biggest pet peeve when it comes to playing soccer?
Syeria: People who think they are better then everyone, and try to control everyone around them.
T.H. P.: Describe your fashion sense in one word. 
Syeria: Comfortable.
T.H. P.: What are you proud of?
Syeria: I’m proud to be saying I’ll going to college for soccer.
T.H. P.: Describe the perfect pizza.  
Syeria: 3 Meats
T.H. P.: Best advice your dad ever gave you.
Syeria: Always compete with the older girls, it’ll make you work harder, but also them.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Diego? Destrie: I thought he was so cute and was also in total shock because I just had another baby! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. Kayson's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Newborn Photographers

What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes.
