Albert Newborn's Session - Interview with mom - Topeka Newborn Portrait Photographers

Albert came in with his family for a newborn session and he did an incredible job!  We were able to pose him in some of the cutest props and poses! He was ready for his winter wonderland debut in his reindeer outfit, and we were able to dress him up like a little snowman!  Our hearts literally melted, and we had some great luck with his calm demeanor! His older sister was so adorable, too! She just loved helping and watching as we posed Albert. She really enjoyed when we made cookies, sharing her snack with her baby brother!  It was so cute to see how much she loves Albert! What a great session and what a sweet family! 
T. H. Peterson: How did you and your family feel when you found out you were pregnant with Albert?
Robyn:  We were so excited when we got pregnant with Albert. We had a miscarriage earlier in the year and we were so thankful that we got our rainbow baby. When we told our family, they were so excited for us!
T. H. P.:  How did you decide on the name Albert?
Robyn:  We named Albert after his dad Albert William Schmitter III
T. H. P.:  Did you have any unique experiences during your pregnancy or labor and delivery?
Robyn:  We got to experience watching our daughter become a big sister which was so incredible to watch.
 T. H. P.:  What do you find in the most difficult task to do with a newborn and a toddler? 
Robyn:  The hardest task has to be keeping our daughter off Albert. She gives him endless hugs and kisses all day.
T. H. P.:  What was your favorite part about your newborn session with us?
Robyn:  The best part was how helpful and amazing you guys were. You helped calm Albert down when he was fussy and you were patient when he cried. It was incredible!

Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect. Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Meet sweet baby Amelia! She was an absolute dream during her newborn session—so smiley and full of sweetness. She slept soundly, letting us gently pose her, and was the perfect little model. Welcoming baby Crew into the world was such a joy! This newborn session was all about capturing the love this family shares, and Crew was absolutely adorable. He was a little fussy at times but quickly settled, allowing us to get some beautiful images. Even when he was wide awake, his big, bright eyes stole the show!
