Cecilia Newborn's Session - Interview with mom - Topeka Newborn Portrait Photographers


We had an incredible newborn session with Cecilia, and she did such a wonderful job!  Her session was very special because we were able to pose her on the bag and get some really unique images!  Once we were able to get this sweet angel settled in, we immediately laid her on the bag and began to pose her in various ways.  She was such a natural beauty, with her adorable cheeks and cute little nose. We loved showing off her hair and she did too! She preferred not to wear a headband, and we were totally on board!  One of the best parts of her session was getting her brother to interact with her, and seeing the love they share. He will always be his sister’s protector, and it was very clear that mom and dad are so proud of their kids!  We loved everything about this session, and we are so excited to share it with you! 


T. H. Peterson: How did you and your family feel when you found out you were pregnant with Cecilia?
Tara:  We were very excited and thankful to find out we were expecting. We had two pregnancies end in miscarriage before Cecilia, making us even more thankful for her.

T. H. P.:  How was your first night home as a family?
Tara:   Cecilia has been a wonderful baby and made the first night home very easy on us. Although she spent a lot of time eating, she let us sleep in between.

T. H. P.:   Did you have any unique experiences during your pregnancy or labor and delivery?
Tara:  I work as a nurse in labor and delivery, so it was fun to know all the nurses that took care of us and to know my doctor even better throughout the pregnancy/labor and delivery process. It really made the experience more personal and lots of fun!
 T. H. P.:  How did your son feel when he met his sister? 
Tara:   He was all smiles. He loves petting her head and giving her kisses. He’s doing very good sharing mom and dad and always comes to the rescue with a pacifier if she’s crying.

T. H. P.:  What was your favorite part about your newborn session with us?
Tara:   You guys were amazing to work with. It was fun to watch the patience and skill that goes into calming baby and getting those perfect shots. You made it a very comforting and fun experience.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Ellie and Jeanathan - Spring Session in the Studio - Topeka Kid's Photographer

Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies.
