Get to know David and Tricia! Relationship spotlight!!!

This is a photography blog HOWEVER I recently started interviewing couples about their relationship. This has been a fun and educational and heartwarming experience. Getting a small insight into other couples has been fun to see and I hope of some value to you, the reader. Today’s spotlight is Tricia and David Wilburn. Their answers are awesome!! Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: How old are you guys? Tricia: I’m 45 and he’s 46

T.H. Peterson: How long have you been married?
Tricia: Together 22 years and married 20 years

T.H. Peterson: Tell me how you met.
Tricia: Met at a pool party. His brother and a friend of a friend wanted to get to know each other better and we had drinks and played cards.

T.H. Peterson: So what did you first think of each other?

David: pretty and likable

Tricia: cute but not really my type.

T.H. Peterson: Describe your relationship in one word.
Tricia: Comforting

T.H. Peterson: What have been some of the best moments of your marriage?
Tricia: When we brought our daughter home from the hospital. The many adventures that we have been on. The camping adventures. Our boating adventures. Being proud of each other for accomplishments.

T.H. Peterson: How have you learned to effectively resolve conflict?
Tricia: Sarcasm 🙃. Mostly, we talk it out. We can both be hard headed. Sometimes, we have to let it sit and come back to it and talk it out again.

T.H. Peterson: What are some things that have helped keep your relationship strong?
Tricia: Laughter! Spending time with each other, by ourselves. We do date nights or day dates and we have even taken short trips by ourselves.

T.H. Peterson: What are some ways you are alike and different?
Tricia: David likes to be the center of attention and is comfortable with that. I, on the other hand, have never been comfortable with being the center of attention. I need to have alone time to decompress/reset and David cannot stand to be alone.

T.H. Peterson: Advice you'd give to yourself when you were first dating your significant other?
Tricia: Have fun! Enjoy ALL the moments. There will highs and there will be lows but it will all be ok.

T.H. Peterson: Tell us something funny or inspiring that happened in your relationship.
Tricia: There have been so many. We had a daughter after 9 yrs of infertility. We have been married for 20 yrs. Who gets to say that?

T.H. Peterson: Give one single piece of advice that others might benefit from.
Tricia: Get a king size bed and separate blankets. T.H. Peterson: That's hilarious but great advice!
