Daniel's Firefighter Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers


We were so very excited to meet Daniel at a generation shoot last weekend and even more excited to see him in our studio for his newborn session.  Once we got him fed and asleep, we were able to really take some amazing pictures!  Mom and Dad joined us with Dad’s Firefighter gear and those were some of our favorite images!  Daniel has such a cute little face with the perfect nose and his blue eyes just sparkle!   We loved his session and we thank you for checking it out!

T.H. Peterson: What is one baby item you could not live without?

Burghandie:   His blanket we’d both be lost without it

T.H. P.:  How was your first night home as a family?

Burghandie: Peaceful and relaxing we were glad to be in our own bed

T.H. P.:  What is the best part about being a mom?

Burghandie:  Being able to watch him learn and grow. But the snuggles are a plus.

T.H. P.:  Who does Daniel look like most?

Burghandie: Daddy

T.H. P.:  What was your favorite part of your session with us? 

Burghandie:  The way Jesse handled him, she was so calm and patient.

Meet Warren, the sweetest little guy with the most relaxed personality. At almost a month old, he was happy, content, and an absolute dream to photograph. We captured some beautiful moments of him, both on his own and with his adoring parents, who couldn’t stop gushing over their precious boy. Meet Riggs — a beautiful newborn we had the joy of photographing in our studio. He was so calm and relaxed the whole time, a truly chill baby and a dream to work with! Ava was absolutely beautiful for her senior portrait session! We had an amazing time capturing her both in the studio and outdoors, and every shot turned out stunning. One of the highlights of her session was getting to include her adorable big dog, Goose. He was such a sweetheart, and the photos of them together were just perfect! When we headed outside, it was freezing ! But Ava came prepared with her cowhide blanket, and let me tell you—it looked incredible. I even told her she looked like she just stepped out of a catalog! I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful senior named Jahara from Topeka High. We started her session in downtown Topeka and then headed to Ward Meade Park, which gave us the perfect mix of urban and natural backgrounds. Jahara looked stunning with her amazing makeup and radiant smile—she truly didn’t take a single bad photo! We had so much fun with her, laughing and chatting the whole time. This milestone session with Krista was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked in, her smile lit up the room— beautiful and full of warmth. We began the session in our studio. Krista looked radiant, glowing with happiness and love. Her joy was contagious, and it really came through in the photos. Then we headed to the lake just a short drive from the studio. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over everything. The colors were vibrant, the water was calm, and it felt like the whole scene was made just for them. Krista did some photos alone, cradling her baby bump with so much love. Then she was joined by her hubby, and you could see the deep connection and excitement they share. It was beautiful to witness and capture. I had the pleasure of photographing Catayah for her senior pictures at Marais des Cygnes Valley High School. We started in the school’s locker room to highlight her involvement in sports. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera. After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports.
