Interview with Alayna Hooper - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I am so excited to share Alayna's senior shoot! She is beautiful and her session was just perfect! We took these in Manhattan and the whole session happened because Alayna saw the sunset at the overlook just north of Manhattan and knew that she had to have her session there! I am thrilled with that choice because her session was perfection! I don't get to shoot in Manhattan often and it's such a great place full of beautiful and amazing backdrops! A town I really love! Here are some of my favorite images from her session! Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? 

Alayna: I want to either go to KU or K-State and be an English major.

T.H. P.: What classes are you enjoying this year? 

Alayna: My favorite classes this year are criminal justice 2 and AP Literature.

T.H. P.: What is your dream job? 

Alayna: My dream job is to be a college professor teaching either philosophy or ethics.

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you? 

Alayna: I love interior design.

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? 

Alayna: I loved the locations we went to.

T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident? 

Alayna: Having a tan.

T.H. P.: What do you do or think when you first wake up? 

Alayna: I’m not sure, waking up is hard for me.

T.H. P.: Favorite outdoor activity? 

Alayna: Definitely kayaking.

T.H. P.: What tv shows do you love? 

Alayna: I like Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls.

T.H. P.: If you had to spend $1000 in a store where would you go?

Alayna: Hollister. Everything I wear is Hollister.

Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. Her mama is completely smitten with her, and it’s easy to see why—she’s just the sweetest, most perfect little baby! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Oakley? I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. We also brought their hobbies into the session to show off their personalities. Kiera, a talented ballet dancer, posed with grace, while Brody, a baseball player, brought his sporty style. Knox's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. Knox’s mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and it’s easy to see why! They were glowing with love during the session, and it was so special to capture these moments for their family. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Clearly mom and dad are crazy about her. We were able to get lots of beautiful images! Here are just a few of our favorites! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Laura: When I first saw Lainey I asked if she was still a girl (LOL) I have two boys and she is the first girl in the Worcester family in almost 19 years. Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Despite the cold, Azaria did amazing, smiling through every shot and showcasing her passion for the game. Her confidence and determination shone through, creating beautiful and meaningful photos. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect. Welcoming baby Ruby into the studio was such a joy! She was the sweetest little model, so peaceful and content throughout her session. Her tiny features and soft expressions made every photo feel extra special. The connection between Ruby and her mom was beautiful to see. It was clear how much love and adoration she has for her little girl. Watching them together, capturing those tender moments, was truly heartwarming.
