All in all, Marshannon’s session was amazing. He brought so much energy and personality to the shoot, and we had a great time working through the locker room, weight room, and out on the field. Even though this was a shorter Media Day style session, we were able to get some really great images that captured who he is as an athlete and as a senior. Marshannon is an impressive young man with a lot of potential and a lot of success already at such a young age. What I really love is how focused he is on his goals and where he wants to go. That kind of focus says a lot about him, and I have no doubt he has some great things ahead of him. When Ean stepped out of his vehicle, I was pretty excited because this is a BIG dude! As a football player at Holton High School, he has the kind of stature that really stands out, and he absolutely towered over us. I knew we could make some really tough-looking images of him, and we definitely did our best to capture that side of him. But it didn't take long to realize that underneath that big football-player exterior is a giant teddy bear. Ean is such a sweet, friendly, and considerate young man, and I wanted to make sure we captured that side of him too. We started his session on the football field and talked a little about football and his great team at Holton High School. The session was pretty quick, and then we headed out into the country for some photos on a gravel road. Carson is a senior at Lynden High School, and we had a great time photographing him for his senior portraits. We started out on the football field at his school, where we took advantage of the familiar setting and got some strong, classic football portraits. Carson was easy to work with right from the start—relaxed, natural, and very photogenic. He made my job simple because he could just step in front of the camera and be himself. After that, we headed down the street to an old gas station area with classic cars and an old scoreboard that gave the session a really unique feel. It was the perfect backdrop for something a little different and added a lot of character to his gallery and took some really meaningful photos with his little brother, which turned out great. I had the chance to photograph Ayden, a Washburn Rural senior, and even though this was a shorter session than usual, we captured some truly amazing images. We started at Washburn Rural, where we highlighted his passion for football. Ayden was relaxed, easygoing, and brought a great smile to every shot. Right from the beginning, it felt like everything came together naturally. After that, we headed downtown to one of my favorite grungy spots, and Ayden was up for anything. The time flew by, and before we knew it, the session was over. His personality really shines through these portraits — confident, genuine, and full of life. I’m excited about how these turned out.
