Lainey and Evan Engagement session - Washburn University and Shawnee Lake Ball Fields - Topeka, KS Professional Wedding and Engagement Photographers

 About a week and a half ago before the cold decided to come back and kick us in the backside, it was gorgeous outside and we had an amazing time hanging out with Lainey and Evan doing their engagement session at Washburn University and the ballfields at Shawnee Lake. We've photographed Evan and Lainey before and they are always fun and down for whatever. This session was their idea and I'm so happy they did because as well known as these locations are, we have never photographed there. They are full of possibilities and as photographers, we loved it! Lainey and Evan were so relaxed in front of the camera that it was completely easy to get great shots of them! Here's a few of our favorites! Though there are a ton of great ones from their session. Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. We also brought their hobbies into the session to show off their personalities. Kiera, a talented ballet dancer, posed with grace, while Brody, a baseball player, brought his sporty style. Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Interview with Azaria - Highland Park Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Despite the cold, Azaria did amazing, smiling through every shot and showcasing her passion for the game. Her confidence and determination shone through, creating beautiful and meaningful photos. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect. Welcoming baby Ruby into the studio was such a joy! She was the sweetest little model, so peaceful and content throughout her session.
