Baylen's Newborn Session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Newborn Photographers

Baylen was just precious. Such a sweet baby. I told mom and dad that his face was like a cartoon. He was just absolutely perfect and didn't even look real! I couldn't stop staring at him. Apparently he is a very chill and calm baby at home too. He did perfect for us! I was so excited to edit and share these images! He should be on a billboard!

T.H. Peterson: What was your pregnancy like? 

Maddy: My pregnancy was all over just a beautiful experience! I didn’t experience much morning sickness and I’d say the worst part was the acid reflux! I was lucky to have the amazing support of my fiancĂ©, our friends and our family throughout and it made my pregnancy fly by! 

T.H. P.: What was your first thought when you saw Baylen?

Maddy: My first thought was pure shock! He was only 6lbs 2oz and looked so tiny when they held him up over the tarp I was thinking “where’s the rest of him” haha! But all over I felt a feeling of love that is indescribable and that “it’s real” feeling kicked in ! 

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Maddy: Coming up with his name was pretty hard we didn’t want anything basic. After looking and thinking we came across the name Baylen and loved that it was unique and had a country ring to it! 


T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us?

Maddy: We loved that you were so patient with Baylen and worked with him through his fussy moments. We also liked that you guys got into the photo shoot and kept conversation instead of just a getting it done type of attitude! 


T.H. P.: What has life been like adjusting to a new baby in the house?

Maddy: Life adjusting with a new a baby in the house hasn’t been easy but we wouldn’t change if for the world! He is a pretty easy baby all together just clingy so I tend to get things done when he’s asleep and that is what has worked best! Still working on getting a schedule going. All of the sleepless nights and early mornings have definitely been worth it with this little here with us! He has brought the most love and joy not only into this house but into our hearts!đź’™

Oh Skylar! A beautiful baby with thick black hair and an adorable presence, stole our hearts with her funny expressions and cooperative demeanor during our photography session with her. I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th
