Interview with Ariana Smith - Shawnee Heights Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I've known Ariana and her family for years. Maybe 10 years? I've had the pleasure of photographing her family and her sibling's senior photos for many years and Ariana is the last one and she did not disappoint! She was so much fun to photograph. Clearly she is beautiful and photogenic but more importantly, she is FUNNY! She had me cracking up. She had THE MOST outtakes I think I've ever photographed in a single session. So many hilarious faces. When narrowing her images for the blog, I was stumped, how do I choose?? I'm super thrilled with what we ended with. Thank you for checking out Ariana's session! FUN!!!!


T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school?

Ariana: To go to college to play soccer and study physical therapy.

T.H. P.: What classes are you enjoying this year?

Ariana: This semester I am not enjoying any of my classes because it’s all college classes but next semester I enjoy my weights class.

T.H. P.: What are your earliest memories playing soccer?

Ariana: My earliest memory is when I scored at one of my soccer games but my favorite memory is when we beat DeSoto High School by one point.

T.H. P.: How would your friends describe you?

Ariana: Outgoing, funny, honest and caring.

T.H. P.: Who makes you laugh the most?

Ariana: My friends make me laugh the most.

T.H. P.: Describe your relationship with your mom. You guys seem to be very close.

Ariana: My relationship with my mom is the best. She is like my best friend. She was always there for me and supporting me during soccer and she was always the mom I could rely on and made me who I am today.

T.H. P.: What is something you enjoyed about your session with us?

Ariana: I enjoyed being able to be myself and be goofy and have fun!

T.H. P.: Favorite movie?

Ariana: My favorite movie is Venom.

T.H. P.: What song reminds you of your childhood?

Ariana: Lollipop by Lil Wayne and Static Major.

T.H. P.: Favorite junk food.

Ariana: Tacos.

Interview with Cade Wilson - Seaman High Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Cade was a blast to photograph. When we showed up, he was hanging out by the football field with his girlfriend. She is literally a cheerleader and his cheerleader too! She was so excited for him and that was really cool to see. We photographed some of them together and that was fun. Cade is definitely a great guy. Genuinely a humble, funny, sweet person and it was my honor to photograph him. I loved his personality and he is very photogenic as well. Interview with J.C. Heim - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a good time hanging out with J.C. He was super photogenic and so down to earth and literally just willing to try whatever. I could tell from the short time that I was around him how genuinely nice and cordial he is. I was immediately impressed with his physique and could tell he trains hard. He made it easy to photograph him! We took some downtown, then the governor’s mansion and Kansas museum and finished off at his locker room and the field at Washburn Rural. Photographing Maria was so much fun! She is so photogenic and even my assistant said it was like being on a Vogue photo shoot. Maria looks amazing at any angle and I was so excited when we started photographing her! These are some of my favorites. When she sat down to look at them, we had so many portraits she liked that narrowing them was hard! One thing I immediately noticed about Maria when we first met was she seemed quiet, maybe even shy and that's how I feel a lot of times and so when I meet someone who seems that way, I really want to connect to them and capture images of who they are that they may not always show the world. I honestly feel we did that. She is stunning and I feel that these images show that. We took some downtown at some of our favorite locations, we also went to the Governor's mansion. What a fun and beautiful family we photographed at the Kansas Governor's Mansion. We started just after sunrise and were greeted with the most beautiful light! It was the perfect session. Okay, let me tell you about Makayla. She was FUN! I liked her energy! She was relaxed and just very easy going. I was excited legitimately because she looked so natural and beautiful in her photos but afterwards when I began editing, I was actually surprised how amazing her session came out! She just has such a naturally photogenic look no matter what, so it was a great session. Interview with Josie Barrow - Holton High School Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

This is Josie. She was so fun to photograph. I really like her! She has a great personality and I feel like we clicked almost immediately; even with mom who was there hanging out with us. She was so nice and the funny thing is mom told me when they showed up that Josie was super nervous about the session and so I laughed because when I was her age, I felt the same way about having my senior portraits taken. I used to be enormously shy and I could relate to her. After a couple minutes, I could see Josie letting her guard down and being herself. I knew this as soon as I saw the most beautiful smile coming from her. I was like, there's no way that's a fake smile! She did amazing. We photographed her session around NOTO and it was the perfect location for her session. The colors made a great backdrop. I feel like they truly matched her personality! I had a great time with Alex! He was a really nice and agreeable young man. We started at Shawnee Lake and ended at NOTO, both locations were perfect for his session. He is really photogenic and was a lot of fun to photograph! He has a passion for weightlifting and the hard work shows off! I'm sure his coaches love his dedication! One of my favorite images from the session was him throwing the javelin. I don't get to do those type of images often so that was a lot of fun! I remember when we met Carter for his senior portraits, we clicked right away. He's super nice and agreeable. He smiled easily and we had lots of fun. His passion is baseball so it was great to be able to do a large part of his session on the field. We got some beautiful images that I believe really portray his passion well.
