Interview with Gabby Martinez - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

 

Photographing Gabby was one of the most fun sessions ever! She is so photogenic and like she mentions in her interview, she's got a big personality and you see that right away. Her smile is so bright and beautiful, you can't help but want to take one photo right after another!! We started off at the Governor's mansion and we got the most beautiful lighting from the sun coming over the horizon and reflecting on a huge bank of clouds right behind us, it was truly phenomenal. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to photograph this young lady! I'm excited to share these with you!! Enjoy

T.H. Peterson: How is your senior year going?
Gabby: It is going pretty well so far. I am looking forward to moving on to

different things, but I will also miss my school a lot. 

T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?
Gabby: I plan to go to college at an undecided university. After I receive my bachelor’s degree I plan to go to medical school and become a pediatrician.
T.H. P.: What would you consider a dream job?
Gabby: My dream job is to become a pediatrician or some kind of doctor. Regardless of what my future career is, I want to help people and make a difference in my community.
T.H. P.: What is something you enjoyed about your session with us?
Gabby: I was initially kind of nervous because I thought I would be awkward in front of the camera, but I felt very comfortable as soon as we got going. Everyone was super nice and fun to work with, and I thought the photos with Moses were really funny.
T.H. P.: What are your earliest memories playing softball?
Gabby: My earliest memories are with the diamond girls at Ken Berry. I will always love that team. 
T.H. P.: How would friends describe you?
Gabby: My friends would describe me as funny, goofy, and crazy. I definitely have a big personality😂.
T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident?
Gabby: I feel most confident when I’m leading people, especially in sports. I love to help different members of a team come together and be united under a common goal.
T.H. P.: What movie could you watch over and over?
Gabby: Princess and the frog, Cars 2, and all of the high school musical movies. They never get old. Fun fact I cried tears of joy when I saw the crocodile from princess and the frog at Disney world…I was 13.
T.H. P.: What do you like to do when you get home from school?
Gabby: Well I usually have a practice right after school so I usually just immediately shower and then lay on the couch and procrastinate my homework.
T.H. P.: What band or singers are you obsessed with?
Gabby:  I love all types of music, but Jon Pardi is my favorite country artist. I also like to listen to Christmas music year round, which really annoys some folks. T.H. P.: Hilarious! I listen to Christmas music all the time too!

Chloe's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Little Chloe came into the studio at just three weeks old, and we were instantly smitten. She’s one of the tiniest newborns we’ve ever photographed, but wow—she came with a big dose of personality. With all that beautiful hair and her bright, expressive eyes, she kept us smiling from the very beginning. Mom and Dad are absolutely crazy about her, and it shows in every moment. Chloe made so many funny little faces that we couldn’t help but laugh right along with her. Toward the end of the session, she finally relaxed and drifted off to sleep, giving us the chance to capture those peaceful, dreamy shots everyone loves. Holly and Brian's beautiful day - Amazing country wedding - Burlingame, Kansas

Brian and Holly’s wedding was one of those days that just felt good from start to finish. We photographed their wedding on their property overlooking the countryside just outside of Burlingame, and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a crisp, cool day, the kind that makes you want to bundle up a little closer to the people you love. Friends and family traveled from all over to be there, and you could feel how meaningful it was for everyone to gather together and celebrate Brian and Holly. These two are such a great couple—so loving and clearly crazy about each other. Their connection is something special, and it was evident in every glance, smile, and quiet moment they shared. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Interview with Kendall Smith - Perry Lecompton Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Kendall’s senior session was one of those that just felt easy from the start. He’s a genuinely nice guy—laid back, friendly, and great to work with—which always makes for a fun session. We kicked things off downtown in an alley and got some really strong shots right away. Kendall has a great smile, and it showed up naturally in those photos without any effort. From there, we headed to the Capitol and grabbed some awesome images with that classic Topeka backdrop. After that, we found an incredible neighborhood filled with peak fall color, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The trees were glowing, and the fall vibes were on point. We wrapped things up at Gage Park with a more country, rustic feel and even more fall color to work with. Kendall was a solid subject the whole time, and everything just flowed. Kaleo came into the studio for his newborn session, and from the moment he arrived, he was so calm and sweet. He was such a beautiful baby, completely content, and made the cutest little faces throughout the session. We captured some really special images of Kaleo all by himself, soaking in those tiny details that change so fast in these early days. It was one of those sessions that just felt easy and peaceful from start to finish. Mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and you can feel that love in every photo. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. Adrian looked amazing against the lake and sunset, and we captured some truly stunning images. It was such a fun evening and a session to remember! T.H. Chris and Mallory said their I do's on May 24, 2014 and we were there to capture all the love and emotions and crazy moments. Mallory looked stunningly beautiful on her special day! Chris was definitely all smiles and even seemed a little nervous before the ceremony but when Mallory walked down the aisle, there was no denying how happy he was.... he even shed some tears! Malaki's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Malakai was an absolute dream during his session. At just two weeks old, he showed up with a full head of hair, the cutest little expressions, and the most chill personality. He let us pose him in all the sweetest setups, and every time he relaxed into a new pose, it just made all of us smile. Hanging out with him and his parents made the whole session feel easy, calm, and really special. Mom and Dad were fully in love, and it showed the entire time. They were just gushing over every tiny stretch, yawn, and smirk he made. Watching their excitement as we captured these moments was one of my favorite parts of the day. Eric and April's Wedding Reception - 6th Avenue Ballroom - Roaring 20s theme - Topeka Wedding Photographers

Eric and April's wedding reception was truly an experience. It was unique and special and so much fun!! They had a destination wedding so they hired us just to shoot their party now that they're back and could invite all their friends and family. There's so many things I loved about their party. I loved the theme of the party. Everyone participated and had amazing outfits. I loved the food, it was from Aboud's and it was AMAZING!!!
