Kaleo's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Kaleo came into the studio for his newborn session, and from the moment he arrived, he was so calm and sweet. He was such a beautiful baby, completely content, and made the cutest little faces throughout the session. We captured some really special images of Kaleo all by himself, soaking in those tiny details that change so fast in these early days. It was one of those sessions that just felt easy and peaceful from start to finish.

Mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and you can feel that love in every photo. We also took some images of Kaleo with both of them, and those are always some of my favorites—simple, genuine moments that mean so much years down the road. Being able to photograph a family during such a special time in their life is something I never take for granted, and I’m so thankful I got to be a part of Kaleo’s newborn story.

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Kaleo?

Mary: Wow! We did it finally! Felt like we would never get that moment but there he was, just perfect!

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Mary: His name is Hawaiian. We wanted something unique and I love the ocean, so leaned towards names having to do with the sea or from tropical areas. This name just called to us, and was actually the last name on our idea list. 

T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?

Mary: The session was stress free, easy to work with and fast turn around. So glad you were able to fit us into your schedule. 

T.H. P.: What is life like with a brand new baby in the house?

Mary: Relaxing. Its hard to get things done with a baby ready to snuggle all day. Just soaking up these moments since I know these days fly by.

I was really excited to photograph Ellie for her senior photos because I’ve had the chance to work with her many times over the years. She’s always been so natural in front of the camera, and this session was no different. We shot at a beautiful location that had a little bit of everything—pond, tall grass, wooded areas, a basketball court, and even an awesome swing with a view. Every outfit she wore fit her perfectly and photographed so well. She made the whole session easy and fun, and before we knew it, the time had flown by. It was also really great having her family there with us. You can tell they’re a close, supportive group, and that energy always shows through in photos. From the very beginning of Brynna’s senior session, I knew it was going to be a good one. She has the kind of personality that just makes people smile. Brynna is funny, confident, smart, and completely herself, and once she started relaxing in front of the camera, her hilarious side really came out. She was making the funniest faces and keeping us laughing the entire session. She also has one of the best smiles, and the moment I got that first real laugh out of her, I knew we were going to create some amazing photos together. Kaitlyn’s senior session was such a fun one to photograph from start to finish. We shot her session at Ted Ensley Gardens, and it was the perfect backdrop for her personality. She has a really great smile and such a fun, easygoing energy that made the whole shoot feel relaxed and natural. Her family came along too, and they added to the experience in the best way — lots of laughs, encouragement, and good moments in between shots. We also spent time at Shawnee Lake, and it couldn’t have looked better. Everything was vibrant and green, and the skies were really colorful and full of life that day. Tobias was seriously one of the sweetest little babies we’ve ever photographed. He had the cutest little face and the calmest personality, which made the whole session feel really special. Mom and dad were there soaking in every moment, and Grandma came along too—completely in love with her new grandson. You could just feel how much this little guy is already adored. Tobias was a perfect little model the entire time, giving us the sweetest smirks and tiny expressions that made it hard to put the camera down. They also brought along his older cousin, who’s still just a toddler, and getting photos of the two of them together was such a fun part of the session. Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. Brynn and Justin's Engagement Session - Gridley, KS - Kansas Top Wedding Photographers

We started out on their property, and it was just incredible. Rolling fields, a classic Kansas sunset, and the kind of light you hope for every time. One of my favorite spots was this old wooden cross they had out in the field—it added such a meaningful, rustic touch. After that, we explored some abandoned buildings and then made our way to a farm nearby, which gave us even more variety. Everywhere we went just fit their vibe perfectly. We also got to include their little daughter, and she completely stole the show. So smiley, so expressive—just the cutest. The whole session felt easy and fun. Lots of laughs, some goofy moments, and just really good connection between them. You can tell how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. Carson is a senior at Lynden High School, and we had a great time photographing him for his senior portraits. We started out on the football field at his school, where we took advantage of the familiar setting and got some strong, classic football portraits. Carson was easy to work with right from the start—relaxed, natural, and very photogenic. He made my job simple because he could just step in front of the camera and be himself. After that, we headed down the street to an old gas station area with classic cars and an old scoreboard that gave the session a really unique feel. It was the perfect backdrop for something a little different and added a lot of character to his gallery and took some really meaningful photos with his little brother, which turned out great. Tate's newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish. You could just feel how much Mom and Dad adore him—there was so much love in every little moment, and it made capturing these images feel really special. Big brother was a huge fan right from the start. He was so proud, giving Tate hugs and kisses and wanting to be close to him the whole time.
