Interview with Drew Taylor - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Drew was awesome to photograph! He had a great attitude and we had lots of fun. It was a beautiful fall morning and we were able to get some of the fall colors that we always look forward to this time of year! We took some at a beautiful rustic location and then went to Washburn Rural's football field to get some great images of him and then headed downtown for some urban images. I'm super happy with his session and as you can see he is super photogenic and made photographing him a breeze! Thanks for checking out his session!
T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school?
Drew: Go to college and study exercise science and become a personal trainer.
T.H. P.: What would your dream job be?
Drew: NFL football player.
T.H. P.: Favorite pro ball player?
Drew: Kam Chancellor
T.H. P.: Ever been injured playing?
Drew: Lots of injuries. Separated shoulder.
T.H. P.: What will you miss most about high school?
Drew: Football and friends.
T.H. P.: What would you go back and tell your freshman self?
Drew: I would tell myself not to say stupid things, relax and have fun.
T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your shoot with us?
Drew: I enjoyed the comfortable laid back atmosphere.
T.H. P.: What or who makes you laugh?
Drew: My sister’s sense of humor makes me laugh.
T.H. P.: What show were you obsessed with when you were a kid?
Drew: I was obsessed with Dinosaur train on PBS kids.
T.H. P.: What do you like to do first thing you get home from school?
Drew: Eat!

Ava was absolutely beautiful for her senior portrait session! We had an amazing time capturing her both in the studio and outdoors, and every shot turned out stunning. One of the highlights of her session was getting to include her adorable big dog, Goose. He was such a sweetheart, and the photos of them together were just perfect! When we headed outside, it was freezing ! But Ava came prepared with her cowhide blanket, and let me tell you—it looked incredible. I even told her she looked like she just stepped out of a catalog! I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful senior named Jahara from Topeka High. We started her session in downtown Topeka and then headed to Ward Meade Park, which gave us the perfect mix of urban and natural backgrounds. Jahara looked stunning with her amazing makeup and radiant smile—she truly didn’t take a single bad photo! We had so much fun with her, laughing and chatting the whole time. Ed and Dava tie the knot! Beautiful Kansas Wedding - Lebo and Emporia, Kansas - A night to remember

Dava and Ed’s wedding was nothing short of amazing. I’ve known Dava for a long time, and seeing her and Ed together, surrounded by so much love and support, was truly special. Their ceremony at the Methodist Church in Lebo was packed with family and friends, all there to celebrate this beautiful couple. The reception at the Clint Bowyer building in Emporia provided the perfect setting for a night full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Every detail of their day was incredible, from the delicious prime rib dinner to the live band that took requests all night, keeping the dance floor packed. There was so much fun, love, and emotion in the air—tears of joy, heartfelt speeches, and endless smiles. We had the pleasure of photographing Noah for his senior session in Manhattan. Originally from Oregon, he now calls Kansas home and attends Manhattan High. We started downtown, capturing shots in the alleys and urban spaces before heading to the scenic outlook near the interstate. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

We love generation sessions because we get to capture special moments that families will cherish over long periods of time.  We love when the families have us come to their home to shoot them because they add extra special meaning to them.  When the Vannocker Family had us come to their farm for a generation session, we knew it was going to be a blast!  It was really hot, but the family members were in GREAT moods!  They began with pictures in the front yard, with this incredible view in the background.  We got to see their adorable farm animals and we got to pet a little pig!  We are so happy to share these images and we know the family will cherish them for years to come.
