Interview with Carter Hall - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Our session with Carter was great! He's a good model and had a good smile as well as a serious expression. I loved his wardrobe choices and the locations we got to shoot in. We mostly did these in different areas of downtown and those gave us the perfect looks for his session. His confidence came shining through perfectly and I think his personality shines in this session. Thank you for checking out his session. It was a blast!

T.H. Peterson: What do you like most about Washburn Rural?

Carter: The teachers.

T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school? Carter: Become an electrician.

T.H. P.: What would your dream job be? Carter: Owner of a construction company. 

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us?

Carter: The locations that the pictures were taken at and the friendliness.

T.H. P.: What classes are you glad to be done with?

Carter:  Math and english. 

T.H. P.: Coffee, tea, coke or water?

Carter: Water.

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you? 

Carter: I already have two technical college degrees at age 17. 

T.H. P.: What’s a song you can’t stop listening to?

Carter: Me or Sum by Nardo Wick.

T.H. P.: What’s a goal you have for yourself?

Carter: To become a journeyman.

Interview with Laci Cole - Seaman High Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Laci was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked into the studio, she was friendly, relaxed, and incredibly easy to work with. She has a great smile and is very photogenic, which always makes a session flow effortlessly. Nothing ever felt awkward, even in between shots, and that made the whole experience feel natural and fun. Her outfits were perfect too—they fit the mood of the photos so well and really pulled everything together. It was also one of those cold, snowy days, so we started inside the studio where it was warm, but we couldn’t resist stepping outside for a few shots. Even with the freezing temps, we were able to capture some really cool images with the snow, and they turned out amazing. It was so nice meeting Laci and her mom—they were both wonderful. Hayes's newborn photos - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Hayes was such a beautiful baby boy! He had lots of hair and was so peaceful and chill, which made our job so much fun. Even though he slept most of the time, every once in a while he would peek his eyes open and give us the funniest little looks. You could tell right away that he had a lot of personality. Mom and Dad are completely smitten with him—they just can’t get over how cute he is! I’m so excited about how these photos turned out. This session was actually a practice for one of our newer assistants learning baby wrapping, and Hayes was the perfect little model to help her learn. Emmy Sue was an absolute dream to photograph. She is beautiful, with perfect skin, and gave us the sweetest little smiles and smirks throughout her session. From the moment she arrived, her calm presence and tiny expressions completely stole our hearts. She was a little fussy at first — just like most babies — but once she was swaddled, she settled right in and posed so wonderfully. Baby Benjamin’s newborn session was such a sweet and special experience. He is a tiny, beautiful little guy, and from the moment we started, you could feel how excited Mom and Dad were to be there. We took our time and worked carefully to create soft, beautiful images of him, and he gave us the most adorable little expressions. Every photo felt gentle, calm, and full of love, making the entire session a joy to photograph. Some of my favorite images from Benjamin’s session are the family portraits. There is something so special about seeing him in his parents’ arms, looking so safe and precious. The connection between them is so natural and strong, and it shows in every image. We had so much fun taking pictures of baby Sienna recently! Her mom and dad are so in love with her, and you can really feel it when you’re around them.  Sienna was a little fussy at first, and it took a few minutes to get her settled—but once she was, she showed us all kinds of cute expressions. She has so much personality in her little face, and it was so fun to capture that. We got some really beautiful shots with different poses, props, and backdrops. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Delainey was the most perfect little baby! Tiny, precious, and so peaceful, she slept right through almost her entire session. It was a practice session for one of our newer baby assistants, and Delainey made it so easy to wrap and pose her perfectly. She really was a dream to work with! Mom and dad were over the moon with how everything turned out. Dad even had a super fun idea with a deer head, and we were able to bring his vision to life just right. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. This session was straight up awesome! A little different than our typical session where we go all over town. Nathan was into his guitars and playing so with that being the theme I thought right around our studio space in Topeka was perfect and we didn't need to go far. We got some with his girlfriend and his sister. I absolutely loved his session. The light was really working with us that day too.
