Bryer's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

This week, I had the chance to photograph the sweetest little guy in our studio: baby Bryer. From the moment he arrived, he had this calm and curious vibe, just looking around and taking everything in. Bryer barely fussed, making it so easy to capture his adorable expressions, from wide-eyed stares to the cutest little smiles. He’s already got a special charm that made each photo feel unique.

Bryer’s big brother, a lively toddler, joined in for some shots, and their connection was heartwarming. You could see the bond between them, with big brother being curious and gentle. Mom and Dad were absolutely smitten with both their boys and beamed through the whole session. Capturing these moments with such a sweet family was a joy, and I’m grateful to help them create memories they’ll cherish forever.

T.H. Peterson: How was your pregnancy? Did you have specific cravings or food aversions?

Dayleen: My pregnancy was super easy in the beginning but gestational hypertension lead to having him 3 weeks early. We got lucky. I was already having a c section because he ended up being breech, and facing my spine.  Our doctor had no idea. I craved ice cream and couldn’t eat Chinese food.

T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw Bryer?

Dayleen: when first seeing him I literally said “my baby” with tears in my eyes. I thought he was so handsome and our family was complete.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Dayleen: we both googled names and it was the only unique one his dad and I both liked. His older brothers name starts with a B so we wanted to stick with B as the first letter.

T.H. P.: What did you like about your session with us?

Dayleen: we loved that y’all were able to capture him smiling!

T.H. P.: Who does Bryer look like? Dayleen: He looks just like his dad. Their baby pictures are identical.

Interview with Aubrey Richman - Lyndon High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had the best time photographing Aubrey from Lyndon High School for her senior session! We kicked things off in downtown Topeka, where Aubrey brought tons of energy and personality to every shot. She showcased her cheerleading skills, along with her love for volleyball, and her joy was contagious. Her beautiful smile lit up every scene, and it was so easy to capture her bright spirit. The weather was amazing, with clear skies and a perfect golden hour glow that made everything even better. As the sun began to set, we made our way to the Governor's Mansion, where the light was absolutely stunning. The final shots by the Kansas River were my favorites of the whole session. The soft colors from the sunset reflected on the water, adding a warm, natural touch to every photo. Our session with Willow was perfect! She is such a great model! Interestingly mom said she doesn't smile often with her teeth for photos but she smiled a lot for us, I'm so happy! We took these at an amazing location not far from our studio. I love it! It was an early morning session which was perfect because we got that beautiful warm light coming over the horizon. I really enjoyed meeting and photographing Kylee. She is so photogenic and was a natural in front of the camera! Her session took place about a month ago and it was the perfect afternoon / evening for her session. Her locations were perfect and the light was gorgeous! She looked amazing against the setting sun. Our session with Keagan was incredible. We took some at the weight room at Washburn where we had a great time capturing his passion for powerlifting and then some with his motorcycle and out at their property with his dirt bike and just getting some incredible sunset images. This was an amazing baby session! Joshua is so handsome and cute and his parents are absolutely crazy about him. I loved everything about this session. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Meeting Link and her crew was awesome! They were so fun and laid back. It was a blast. Link is from Indiana but was here on break and we were able to get some really creative images of her. I loved the color and beauty of her session. We took them in NOTO, Gage Park and a beautiful neighborhood nearby. The session just flew by as we got the best smiles and laughs. Gemma and Terry tie the knot! Beautiful Hoyt Wedding - Topeka KS Wedding Photographers

I had the pleasure of photographing Gemma and Terry's wedding at the community building in the park in Hoyt. It was such a beautiful, sunny fall day, perfect for their special moment. The park setting gave the whole ceremony a warm, intimate feeling, and the colorful leaves in the trees added to the beauty of the day. They were surrounded by close friends and family, who made everything feel even more personal and special. Gemma was a bit nervous as the ceremony started, but when Terry saw her, his face lit up with pure joy. It was such a sweet moment. Their kids were also really excited and having a great time. Throughout the day, you could just feel the love and happiness from everyone who came. There were so many hugs, lots of smiles, and a few tears too, as their friends and family celebrated with them.
