Interview with Haley Custenborder - Topeka High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera.

After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports. Haley was such a joy to work with, and I’m so excited for her to see how the photos turned out!

T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school?

Haley: University of Nebraska-Lincoln for Air Force ROTC with a major in sports media and communications. 

T.H. P.: Favorite classes this year?

Haley: MCJROTC or ceramics.

T.H. P.: What did you enjoy most about your senior shoot?

Haley: I’m probably enjoyed the giraffe feed the most.

T.H. P.: How long have you loved giraffes?

Haley: Since I was 2.

T.H. P.: How would friends describe you?

Haley: Caring,confident,and shy.

T.H. P.: Dream job?

Haley: Public relations person for a formula 1 team. 

T.H. P.: What’s the most and least girliest thing about you?

Haley: The most would probably be I like to do my makeup and hair but the least would probably be I dress in sweats 99% of the time. 

T.H. P.: Favorite song at the moment?

Haley: Katy Perry Firework.

T.H. P.: What tv show reminds you of your childhood?

Haley: Grey’s Anatomy or Law and Order. 

T.H. P.: What kind of student are you?

Haley: Hardworking,and dedicated.

Wyatt Robert's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Sweet little Wyatt was in the studio for his newborn session, and what a joy he was to photograph. Mom told me he weighed over nine pounds at birth, and he was definitely a chunk! He had the cutest blonde hair and even gave us several little smiles and smirks during the session. He was such a sweet baby, and we were able to create some really precious images that I know his family will treasure for years to come. One thing that made this session especially meaningful for me was seeing Wyatt's dad as a father. More than 10 years ago, I photographed his senior pictures, and now here he is holding his newborn son. Life has a way of moving fast. Wyatt is also the very first grandbaby on both sides of the family, so you know he's going to be absolutely spoiled with love. HIlarious Maternity Session - Luke and Stephany's Baby Bump - Topeka's Funniest Photographers

I am soooooo happy with Luke and Stephany’s maternity session. I almost spit my drink out when I pulled up and saw Luke standing out there. The laughs didn’t stop there. Luke had me rolling the whole time. The funny thing is Stephany couldn’t really convince Luke to do the shoot unless she agreed to do a redneck, white trash maternity shoot. Our inspiration for their shoot was Masterminds. Stephany was such a good sport and Luke had a ton of fun! He did a lot of drinking so he was prepared to do all of his own stunts! Interview with Sadie Craig - West Franklin High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Senior sessions like Sadie's are the ones that really get my creative side going. She has such a unique style, and from the moment she showed me examples of the kinds of photos she loved, I knew this wasn't going to be a typical senior session. She was drawn to dramatic, cinematic, and darker images, and I couldn't wait to bring those ideas to life. Of course, we made sure to capture the classic smiling portraits everyone loves, but some of my favorite images from her session were the ones where we pushed ourselves creatively with dramatic lighting, movement, interesting posing, and a little bit of artistic storytelling. Those are the sessions that remind me why I love what I do. Interview with Juan Morales - Highland Park High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had a great time photographing Juan from Highland Park High School for his senior portraits. We started at the Capitol and got some really nice photos around the grounds before heading over to the Governor's Mansion. What made this session a little different is that we photographed everything right in the middle of the day. Normally, we like to include some country locations closer to sunset, but the light worked out beautifully and we were able to create some amazing images throughout the entire session. Juan was a lot of fun to photograph. He has a great personality, is very easy to talk to, and is naturally photogenic. The session seemed to fly by as we spent a lot of time talking about his plans after high school and some of the things he enjoys doing. Kinslee's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

We recently had the pleasure of photographing sweet little Kinslee, and what a fun session it was! Mom and Dad were so excited to capture this special time in their lives, and their joy was easy to see throughout the entire session. Kinslee was absolutely adorable and seemed to love being in front of the camera. She even gave us a few precious little smiles and smirks that made everyone in the room melt. One of our favorite parts of the session was watching Mom and Dad with their baby girl. Every little thing Kinslee did brought big smiles to their faces, and it was clear how much they adore her. Interview with Nate Leeper - Hayden High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Nate's senior session was one of those mornings that reminds us why we love what we do. We met bright and early at 6 a.m. on a beautiful family farm where we've photographed several of his cousins over the years. The sunrise could not have been more perfect, giving us amazing light and a beautiful backdrop for his photos. Nate is a student-athlete at Hayden High School, where he plays both football and golf, and he brought a great attitude to the entire session. He was easygoing, cooperative, and really got into the experience. One of my favorite things about Nate's session was seeing his personality come through in the photos. He's a sharp looking young man, and his outfits were great, especially the suit, which gave us some really classy images. Interview with Rico Chavez - Shawnee Heights High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Rico's senior session was such a fun one from start to finish. He is a good-looking young man with a great smile, an easygoing personality, and a laid-back attitude that made him a pleasure to photograph. We started downtown before heading to Shawnee Lake and Bettis Family Sports Complex, where we captured some photos that reflected his love of soccer. From there, we found a beautiful spot with tall grass and a country feel, and we wrapped up the evening by the water at Shawnee Lake. The variety of locations gave us so many different looks, and Rico looked great in every one of them. One of the things that stood out most during the session was how respectful Rico was and how close he is with his family. His mom joined us for the session, and it was easy to see the great connection they share. I had the best time photographing Tristan for his senior portraits. We started at Ward-Meade Park, where we had this incredible variety of backgrounds. The sun was shining, giving us a warm, golden glow. Then, we headed over to the NOTO district, and it was just bursting with color. Every corner was vibrant, and Tristan really lit up, especially when we brought his tuba into the shots. I’ve been photographing him since he was little, so it was really special to see him grow into this moment. I could tell he was having a blast, and so was I. Interview with Emberly Connell - Hayden High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had such a great time photographing Emberly’s senior pictures! We started the session at Four Corners, where the rustic buildings and warm evening sunlight gave us the perfect backdrop for some amazing portraits. Emberly was a natural in front of the camera from the very beginning. Her smile came so easily, and she looked completely comfortable throughout the session. Her mom was there the whole time helping out and cheering her on, which made the experience even more fun. After that, we headed to Osage County Fishing Lake, where the skies absolutely stole the show. We photographed in the fields, along the gravel paths, and around the lake, but my favorite images came when we moved down to the water. Emberly looked beautiful standing along the shoreline and even stepping into the water for some truly unforgettable photos. The final images of the evening were especially stunning.
