Baer's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Little Baer was an absolute dream to photograph—so calm and content through his entire newborn session. His family was right there with him, showering him with love, cuddles, and sweet moments. His big sister is the most adorable little girl, and you can already see how much she loves her baby brother! It was such a joy to capture this beautiful family and their newest addition. There’s nothing sweeter than the love that surrounds a newborn, and Baer is one lucky little guy to have such an amazing family by his side!

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Barrett?

Rachel: When I first saw Barrett, I thought he is so adorable and that I’m so lucky to be his mom. 

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Rachel: Baer is a family name so we decided on Barrett and we call him Baer for short. 

T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?

Rachel: I loved the entire process. It went smooth and the pictures turned out amazing! 

T.H. P.: Did you have special cravings or food aversions when you were pregnant?

Rachel: I craved tacos and chocolate chip cookies while pregnant. 

T.H. P.: Describe Barrett's personality and who does he look like? Rachel: He is a spoiled and needy boy. He wants to be held or fed all the time. We just love him so much. I’m not sure who he looks like. Some people say he looks like his mom and some say he looks like his dad.

Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. We also brought their hobbies into the session to show off their personalities. Kiera, a talented ballet dancer, posed with grace, while Brody, a baseball player, brought his sporty style. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect. Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Welcoming baby Ruby into the studio was such a joy! She was the sweetest little model, so peaceful and content throughout her session.
