Interview with Gabby Samson - Lyndon High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Gabby's senior session was an absolute blast! From the moment we met, I felt like we clicked instantly—she's just that cool. She’s creative, artistic, and has such a fun, genuine personality. We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon in Topeka capturing her love for all things 90s, Blink-182, and her passion for music. Her guitar added the perfect personal touch, and every shot felt like a glimpse into her artistic soul.

I absolutely LOVE how her photos turned out! She was effortlessly adorable, radiating confidence and creativity in every frame. The time flew by, but every moment was filled with laughter and great energy. Gabby, you are amazing, and I’m so excited for you to see these photos!

T.H. Peterson: What classes do you like most this year? 

Gabby: Illustrator & screen printing (FHTC) 

T.H. P.: Dream job?

Gabby: Graphic Designer

T.H. P.: Plans after high school? 

Gabby: Get my Bachelor's at pittstate for graphic design.

T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us? 

Gabby: It was so fun and everyone was so nice! Plus I feel like they really knew and understood what my style was. 

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you? 

Gabby: I still watch Octonauts at the ripe old age of 18.

T.H. P.: How long have you played guitar? 

Gabby: I've played the guitar since I was probably 11 years old, and just started playing electric this last year!

T.H. P.: Favorite thing mom cooks? 

Gabby: GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE!

T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident? 

Gabby: Doing anything I'm passionate about makes me confident!

T.H. P.: How did you get into Blink 182? 

Gabby: This is such an important story to me actually, I got into blink 182 when I was 5 years old. The first song I ever heard of theirs was "Wishing Well" which my parents introduced to me. Me and my dad listened to it together a lot, and that's how I discovered them. I've loved them ever since, and they are more than just a band to me they are a bond.

T.H. P.: What other bands do you like? Gabby: I also love: Smashing Pumpkins, Limp Bizkit, The Smiths, The Presidents Of the United States of America, and way more haha. And Weezer!!!!

Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. This was a very special session. Miss Lainey is so tiny and beautiful and her mommy and daddy are absolutely in love! She is so sweet. Mom and dad had a few ideas, including posing her with dad's BDUs from when he was in the Army. Those were really special. Here are a few of our favorites from the session! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Aubrey: How perfect and beautiful she was. That she is the final piece to our family.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Aubrey: We decided we wanted a Name that started L. Lainey’s dad would give lists of L names to me and I was never set on any of them. We almost decided to go with something different than L. I asked Chris his opinion of Lainey and he told me that he thought of that name recently but was done with getting turned down on all the lists of names he had came up with. That’s how we came up with Lainey. Jean is Lainey’s middle name and she gets that from her Mami (grandma) on her mother’s side....

How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Ella, a senior from Silver Lake High School, was such a joy to photograph! She’s super photogenic and brought so much energy to her session. Ella is a talented athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track, and it’s easy to see her confidence shine through. I recently had the joy of photographing an adorable baby named Forrest. He was so sweet, and his expressions could melt anyone’s heart. His mom was completely head over heels for him, and it was easy to see why. We set up a variety of different scenes to capture his cuteness, and he looked precious in every single one.
