Gabby's senior session was an absolute blast! From the moment we met, I felt like we clicked instantly—she's just that cool. She’s creative, artistic, and has such a fun, genuine personality. We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon in Topeka capturing her love for all things 90s, Blink-182, and her passion for music. Her guitar added the perfect personal touch, and every shot felt like a glimpse into her artistic soul. I absolutely LOVE how her photos turned out! She was effortlessly adorable, radiating confidence and creativity in every frame. The time flew by, but every moment was filled with laughter and great energy. Gabby, you are amazing, and I’m so excited for you to see these photos! T.H. Peterson: What classes do you like most this year? Gabby: Illustrator & screen printing (FHTC) T.H. P.: Dream job? I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. We also brought their hobbies into the session to show off their personalities. Kiera, a talented ballet dancer, posed with grace, while Brody, a baseball player, brought his sporty style. It was a perfect mix of their individual passions and their fun connection as siblings! Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. Her mama is completely smitten with her, and it’s easy to see why—she’s just the sweetest, most perfect little baby! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Oakley? Ally: When we saw Oakley, we fell in love immediately and we were both so excited to meet our sweet girl. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Ally: Oakley’s middle name, JoAnne, is after my great grandma JoAnn. Anne is a family name for her dad’s side. T.H. P.: Who does she look like? Ally: Everyone says she looks like her dad, but I think she looks a little like each of us. T.H. P.: What is something you like about your session with us? Ally: I loved how easy going the whole process was. She didn’t cry when you guys were dressing ...
Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. Knox’s mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and it’s easy to see why! They were glowing with love during the session, and it was so special to capture these moments for their family. Knox is already so loved and cherished, and we know he’s going to grow up surrounded by so much love and joy. T.H. Peterson: How did you come up with Knox’s name? Maleeah: We came up with his name by looking up a bunch of list of semi-unique baby names for months. We were between Greyson and Knox but ultimately chose Knox. T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw him? Maleeah: When I first saw him I was in shock his was real. He was a calm baby in my stomach so to see him be real and so perf...
Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
Lauren and Cole’s session at KU was so special—not just because it’s where they graduated, but because their connection made every shot effortless. I had the privilege of photographing Lauren’s senior portraits in high school, so it was amazing to capture this new chapter for her and Cole. Even though it was chilly, they kept warm by cuddling close, making for the sweetest moments. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they’re such a photogenic couple. I can’t wait for their wedding! To book your own session, please call Tommy or Holly at 785.793.2492 or 785.213.0812 or email tommy@thpetersonphoto.com
Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Clearly mom and dad are crazy about her. We were able to get lots of beautiful images! Here are just a few of our favorites! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Laura: When I first saw Lainey I asked if she was still a girl (LOL) I have two boys and she is the first girl in the Worcester family in almost 19 years. I thought she had beautiful eyelashes and looked like her big brother Casby. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Laura: We came up with her name because my husband and two boys are "C" names and so we wanted her to be an "L" name like me. The only name we really liked and could agree on was Lainey. Kristine is my mothers first name and my middle name as well. T.H. P.: What do big bros think? Laura: Big brothers love her very aggressively. Casby is always as...
Ella, a senior from Silver Lake High School, was such a joy to photograph! She’s super photogenic and brought so much energy to her session. Ella is a talented athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track, and it’s easy to see her confidence shine through. We started her session in the studio, capturing some stunning shots, and then braved the snow for a few outdoor photos that turned out amazing. It was so much fun working with her, and we had a great time! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? Ella: Attend Butler Community College and play volleyball. Major is undecided. T.H. P.: Favorite class this year? Ella: Art T.H. P.: What is your favorite sport you play? Ella: Volleyball T.H. P.: Fondest memories playing ball? Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Despite the cold, Azaria did amazing, smiling through every shot and showcasing her passion for the game. Her confidence and determination shone through, creating beautiful and meaningful photos. Congratulations, Azaria, on your senior year! T.H. Peterson: What classes do you like most this year? Azaria: My favorite classes this year would be Painting with my favorite teacher Mrs Pryor and Yearbook. T.H. P.: What are your fondest memories playing softball? Azaria: I would say my fondest memories would be when after my games we would get ice cream no matter if we won or lost. I also enjoyed playing tournaments and traveling with my teammates and goofi...
Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect. We kept things simple and focused on natural, loving moments. Here are some of our favorite photos from the session! T.H. Peterson: How did you come up with her name? Erika: We wanted a unique and sweet name and came up with Luciana or “Lucy” for short. It also means “light” or “light in the darkness" and it serves as a reminder of God's presence and faithfulness even amid difficult times. T.H. P.: What di...
