Introducing sweet baby Braxton! This little guy was such a joy to photograph. With his perfect little face and adorable hair, he was a dream baby. It took him a minute to settle in, but once he did, we captured the most beautiful images of him that truly melted my heart. Braxton’s mom, dad, and big sister are absolutely smitten with him, and it’s easy to see why. During the session, we made sure to include many of the ideas mom and dad brought along, making the photos even more special for their family. It was such a wonderful session, and I’m so honored to have been a part of capturing these early moments for their sweet boy. T.H. Peterson: What was your pregnancy like? Did you have any food cravings or any food aversion? Katie: The first trimester was rough, morning sickness really kicked my butt - other than that my pregnancy was fairly smooth. I craved anything salty and ice cream was my weakness! T.H. P.: What does big sis think? Katie: Big Sis absolutely adores her li...
Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. Knox’s mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and it’s easy to see why! They were glowing with love during the session, and it was so special to capture these moments for their family. Knox is already so loved and cherished, and we know he’s going to grow up surrounded by so much love and joy. T.H. Peterson: How did you come up with Knox’s name? Maleeah: We came up with his name by looking up a bunch of list of semi-unique baby names for months. We were between Greyson and Knox but ultimately chose Knox. T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw him? Maleeah: When I first saw him I was in shock his was real. He was a calm baby in my stomach so to see him be real and so perf...
Gabby's senior session was an absolute blast! From the moment we met, I felt like we clicked instantly—she's just that cool. She’s creative, artistic, and has such a fun, genuine personality. We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon in Topeka capturing her love for all things 90s, Blink-182, and her passion for music. Her guitar added the perfect personal touch, and every shot felt like a glimpse into her artistic soul. I absolutely LOVE how her photos turned out! This was a very special session. Miss Lainey is so tiny and beautiful and her mommy and daddy are absolutely in love! She is so sweet. Mom and dad had a few ideas, including posing her with dad's BDUs from when he was in the Army. Those were really special. Here are a few of our favorites from the session! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Aubrey: How perfect and beautiful she was. That she is the final piece to our family. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Aubrey: We decided we wanted a Name that started L. Lainey’s dad would give lists of L names to me and I was never set on any of them. We almost decided to go with something different than L. I asked Chris his opinion of Lainey and he told me that he thought of that name recently but was done with getting turned down on all the lists of names he had came up with. That’s how we came up with Lainey. Jean is Lainey’s middle name and she gets that from her Mami (grandma) on her mother’s side....
Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
Lauren and Cole’s session at KU was so special—not just because it’s where they graduated, but because their connection made every shot effortless. I had the privilege of photographing Lauren’s senior portraits in high school, so it was amazing to capture this new chapter for her and Cole. Even though it was chilly, they kept warm by cuddling close, making for the sweetest moments. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they’re such a photogenic couple. I can’t wait for their wedding! Ella, a senior from Silver Lake High School, was such a joy to photograph! She’s super photogenic and brought so much energy to her session. Ella is a talented athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track, and it’s easy to see her confidence shine through. We started her session in the studio, capturing some stunning shots, and then braved the snow for a few outdoor photos that turned out amazing. It was so much fun working with her, and we had a great time! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? Ella: Attend Butler Community College and play volleyball. Major is undecided. T.H. Welcoming baby Ruby into the studio was such a joy! She was the sweetest little model, so peaceful and content throughout her session. Her tiny features and soft expressions made every photo feel extra special. The connection between Ruby and her mom was beautiful to see. It was clear how much love and adoration she has for her little girl. Watching them together, capturing those tender moments, was truly heartwarming. Ruby is already so deeply loved, and it was an honor to document this precious time for them. T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Ruby? Lindsey: When I first saw Ruby I immediately fell in love with how much dark hair she had. She was perfect in every way. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name?
