Interview with Danny Shields - 2017 Washburn Rural High School Grad - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Thanks for checking out our session with Danny Shields from Washburn Rural! Great guy! Danny was totally down for everything. It was really a fun session on a great afternoon. The weather was beautiful, he was totally comfortable in front of the lens and I just love how his shots came out! I loved the first shots at his school and the shots at the end of the night with Topeka in the background. Lots of fun!! Here's a few of our favorites, and also a great interview! It's cool because it lets you get to know him a little better. Enjoy!
T.H. Peterson: What do you like most about WRHS?Danny: The thing I like the most about WRHS are all my friends I've grown to know! I've known most of them since we were all in Elementary school!
T.H. P.: Best thing about the football team?Danny: My favorite thing about the football team is the teammates I've had for the past 4 years! They're all like brothers to me and also the great coaching staff!
T.H. P.: What position do you play and what misconceptions do people have about
your position?Danny: I am an Offensive and Defensive lineman and a big misconception is we are the lazy dumb players! When in fact the lineman are probably the hardest working and smartest people on the field!
T.H. P.: Have you ever been hurt or injured playing?Danny: I broke my foot at the end of my sophomore season and missed the last two varsity games.
T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?Danny: I plan on going to a 4 year school to play football! I am undecided on what I want to study!
T.H. P.: Favorite place to eat in Topeka?Danny: As a big guy you know I like to eat so I'd have to say Huhot or Pepperjax!

T.H. P.: What did you like most about your session with us?
Danny: Tommy was a great photographer and very friendly!
T.H. P.: What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?Danny: I'm not afraid of a lot of things but the haunted houses in KC had me shaking.
T.H. P.: What kind of student are you?Danny: I'm a really good student, try to keep mostly A's with the occasional B
T.H. P.: What song on the radio amps you up and what song on the radio right now annoys you?Danny:"I Don't Get Tired" by Kevin Gates always gets me amped up for a game but I don't listen to the radio much so there isn't one that annoys me
T.H. P.: Are you a morning person?
Danny: No I am not a morning person I enjoy my sleep!

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Diego? Destrie: I thought he was so cute and was also in total shock because I just had another baby! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. Always checking on him and making sure to say “what mister” anytime he cries.  T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. She is growing by leaps and bounds and I am so thankful to have her on our team! She's someone I always appreciate having around! What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes. She’s already gotten the nickname of Coco as well, which is so cute.  T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house? Sierra: It honestly has been a huge adjustment, but way smoother than I had imagined. Cash is 5 and he’s been super helpful and sweet
