Tatum and Tyler's amazing fall engagement session - Beautiful shoot at KS Governor's Mansion - Topeka's Best Wedding Photographers

Super excited to share our engagement session with Tatum and Tyler. It was beautiful but windy. That did not stop us from having a great session. We're photographing their wedding at the end of September next year so it was great spending time with these guys and getting to know them. They are such a cute couple. They have a connection and bond that is undeniable. They are so comfortable with one another. It was a lot of fun being able to capture that. Also, I really loved the outfits they chose for their session. They fit perfectly for the fall look we got at the Governor's mansion. It was an amazing session no question! Also, I asked them a few questions, so make sure to read those!

T.H. Peterson: Where did you guys first meet?
Tatum: We met at school my freshman year and were friends for quite awhile before we started dating.
T.H. P.: Favorite movie you've ever seen together.
Tatum: Favorite movie is Sweet Home Alabama.

T.H. P.:  What is something you both like about each other.
Tatum: I love that he's a good listener. Tyler: She can always make me feel better and calm me down. Haha


T.H. P.:  Tyler, What's the best thing she's ever cooked for you?

Tyler: Favorite thing she’s cooked me is chicken enchilada soup.
T.H. P.:  Tatum, what did you first notice about Tyler?
Tatum: His smile!

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby.
