Interview with Jude Haverkamp - Shawnee Heights High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Jude’s senior session was such a fun one, and it was great getting to photograph him again. I’ve also photographed his family before, and one thing that has always stood out to me is how friendly and easygoing he is. He’s just a genuinely nice kid and was completely on board with all of the ideas we came up with during the session. We started at Shawnee Heights High School on the stage with his cello. His mom suggested the location, and I’m so glad she did because we were able to create some really dramatic images using mostly the stage lights. After that, we headed to the Kansas State Capitol, where the skies put on an amazing show for us. The beautiful clouds and evening light made for some of my favorite images from the session.

From there, we made our way downtown and stopped at Evergy Plaza. By then it was getting dark, and the fountains were lit up with changing colors. Since Jude is heading to K-State, it was perfect when the lights turned purple while he was wearing his K-State shirt. It was one of those happy accidents that made the session even more special. We finished the evening exploring downtown and stumbled across a permanent chess table, which gave us another creative spot to work with. Overall, this was an amazing session from start to finish. I really enjoyed spending time with Jude, and I’m so happy with how everything turned out. Here are a few of our favorites—I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

T.H. P.: What is your dream job?
Jude: Manufacturing industrial equipment.

T.H. P.: What classes have you enjoyed most?
Jude: I enjoy all math classes.
T.H. P.: If you had an hour to work on a skill every day, what would you pick?
Jude: I would work on my mechanical skills.
T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident?
Jude: When K-State wins a game.
T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?
Jude: I enjoyed all the creativity we had in the pictures.
T.H. P.: Favorite type of movie to watch?
Jude: I like comedy movies.
T.H. P.: What song could you listen to every day?
Jude: "Love Story" by Taylor Swift.
T.H. P.: Favorite thing Mom cooks?
Jude: She makes good salsa.

T.H. P.: How did you pick cello to play?
Jude: I held the instrument before we started, and it felt right.
