Beckett's amazing newborn session - Topeka's best newborn photographers

 Just look at this face!!! Beckett did so well for his newborn session and of course mom and dad were so proud of their little boy. I love his name and I love how he did in these photos. He smiled a bunch and that is so rare for an infant shoot. Beckett has the most adorable expressions and his smile just makes you smile back! I couldn't help cracking up too as he tooted a few times and apparently smiled afterwards lol. Thank you for checking our shoot with this beautiful young baby and hope you enjoy!

T.H. Peterson:  What was going through your head when you first saw Beckett?
Brandon and Shawna:  When we first saw Beckett, we couldn't believe how perfect he was. His little eyes, nose, hands all seemed so beautiful. It made the 9 months and 30 hour labor leading up to his birth seem so worth it. 
T.H. P.: What is something you've learned since having Beckett or were surprised about since he was born?
Brandon and Shawna: We have learned to tap into the patience we never knew we had. And we finally understand the cliche love that you only read about and see in movies. That kind of love that consumes you and your every thought and emotion.
T.H. P.: Your favorite thing about him?
Brandon and Shawna:  Physically, our favorite thing about Beckett are his lips. They're perfect. We also love his sleep smiles and his happy coos.

T.H. P.: How did you come with the name Beckett?
Brandon and Shawna:  The name Beckett is off a baby name site. It caught my attention because it means "dweller near the brook" which is such a peaceful picture in my mind. Beck is also a band that we enjoy listening to.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies.
