Jack's Newborn session - Interview with Mom - Beautiful Newborn Session - Topeka Newborn Photographer

 What a cute baby!!! We had fun with Jack photographing his session. He was such a great little subject! I loved his Jayhawk hat. I felt honored to do his session and the second photo is a book that dad reads to him. I could tell when dad saw the photos that he really loved them. He is such a proud father. And when we did the shoot, mom was there and the connection you can see in the last photos of the blog are really special. You can just tell how much she cherishes her little man. T.H. Peterson: What was your first thought when you saw Jack?

Courtney: I just remember thinking "oh my gosh- he's perfect!" and my husband and I bawled our eyes out when we heard him start crying.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Courtney: His full name is Robert Jack Harper, but he will go by Jack. 'Robert' is a family name on both sides of our family-- My paternal grandfather was "Robert Andrew", and growing up he went by "Andy". Mark's paternal grandfather was "Robert Neal" and he went by 'Neal'. So we liked that tradition. We fell in love with the name "Jack"---we thought it was a traditional, timeless, strong name.

T.H. P.: Favorite thing about him?

Courtney:  He is such a sweet baby (I'm sure that every mom says that.. but Jack truly is such a sweet baby). He's been great so far- he has only been waking up twice during the night (I hope not to jinx that) and is just a funny, loving, sweet, relaxed baby. And he's a snuggle bug.

T.H. P.:  Any particular foods or smells make you gag when you were pregnant? Or certain foods you craved?

Courtney: No foods/smells really made me gag when I was pregnant. I did crave raw brownie batter/ raw cookie dough from the 2nd trimester on and I of course couldn't eat it (which is probably a good thing!). Also, I am not much of a drinker, but I CRAVED an ice cold Blue Moon the entire pregnancy and my family and friends all stocked our fridge at home with some Blue Moon after we had Jack.

T.H. P.:  Who do you think he looks most like?
Courtney: Hands down looks like his dad.

Interview with Kyle Connor - Silver Lake High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Some senior sessions just feel like they fit the person perfectly, and that was definitely the case with this one. We headed out to his family’s property and used the farm as the backdrop for his photos. Between the old barns, weathered buildings, vintage tractor, his truck, and of course his horse, there was no shortage of great locations. We even got a few photos with his uncle and their horses, which added a really meaningful touch to the session. The weather was beautiful, and everything came together to create that classic country feel. As a cowboy, he looked completely at home in every photo. While we were able to get a few great smiles, his serious expression fit the rustic setting just as well and gave the images a lot of character. It was a shorter session than most, but that just goes to show that you don't need hours to create something special. Lillian and Brendon's beautiful wedding day - Gorgeous Rustic Kansas Wedding

Brendon and Lillian's wedding day was one we won't soon forget. Tucked away on a beautiful family property deep in the woods, their ceremony felt like something out of a storybook. Earlier in the week, everyone was keeping a close eye on the weather and preparing for the possibility of rain, but the skies cooperated perfectly. We were even treated to some sunshine throughout the day, making the already gorgeous setting feel even more magical. From the moment the day began, there was a mix of excitement, nerves, laughter, happy tears, and all the emotions that make wedding days so special. Their sweet little boy was also a huge part of the day and completely stole the show more than once. He was all smiles from start to finish, happy, playful, and about as photogenic as a kid can be. Interview with Janae Bainbridge - Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Janae is such a great example of why I love senior sessions so much. Since she’s homeschooled, we had the flexibility to do an extra long session and really bring a lot of creative ideas to life. Honestly, I was completely blown away the entire time. She is not only beautiful and incredibly photogenic, but she also brought so many great ideas of her own to the session. Janae is both a ballerina and a basketball player, and we were able to build a session that showed both sides of who she is. We finished the evening out on the Kansas River with the most beautiful sunset behind her, and it was the perfect ending to an already amazing session. One of the biggest highlights for me was photographing her ballet photos at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. Banks's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Banks was seriously such a cute little guy to photograph. I was honestly shocked at how much hair he had. His blonde hair almost looked like a tiny little wig, and it made him even more adorable. He gave me a couple little smiles during the session, but honestly, what stood out most were all the expressions he made. He was so animated the whole time, and every once in a while he would let out this loud cry that was actually kind of hilarious and adorable at the same time. Normally I’m not trying to photograph babies crying, but he was so expressive that it made for some really fun photos. We also got some really beautiful images of Banks with his mom, and those are some of my favorites from the session. You could just feel how much love was there. Overall, his session turned out so good, and I had such a fun time photographing him. I ended up with so many great images, and I’m super excited about how everything came together. Interview with Athena Gilbert - Cair Paravel Latin School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Athena’s senior session was seriously amazing from start to finish. She goes to Cair Paravel Latin High School, and she is one of those people who is just naturally photogenic. Every smile, every expression, every angle — she looked incredible in every single photo. She’s such a sweet young lady and was so easy to photograph because she felt completely relaxed in front of the camera. We started at the capitol and then headed downtown where we found an alley that gave us some really fun and edgy shots. After that, we made our way to Shawnee Lake and the gardens where the evening light was absolutely perfect. One of my favorite moments was getting photos of Athena standing in a fountain in her dress. Those images turned out so unique and beautiful. We wrapped up the session in a field with tall prairie grass during golden hour, and it honestly could not have been a more perfect evening. Kaitlyn’s senior session was such a fun one to photograph from start to finish. We shot her session at Ted Ensley Gardens, and it was the perfect backdrop for her personality. She has a really great smile and such a fun, easygoing energy that made the whole shoot feel relaxed and natural. Her family came along too, and they added to the experience in the best way — lots of laughs, encouragement, and good moments in between shots. We also spent time at Shawnee Lake, and it couldn’t have looked better. Everything was vibrant and green, and the skies were really colorful and full of life that day. Meghan was so much fun to photograph during her senior session. We started out at Truckhenge and finished up at Iliff Commons, and she made the whole experience really easy and enjoyable. She has a great personality, an awesome smile, and she’s just very natural in front of the camera. We also got to include her little pup, which always adds a fun and personal touch to the session. Even though we were shooting in the middle of the day, we were still able to find some really beautiful light throughout both locations. One of my favorite moments from Truckhenge was photographing her with the old school bus; it’s so colorful and unique, and she fit perfectly into that scene. My first impression of Xavier was how confident he seemed and how mature he seemed for his age. Sure he joked around and had a great sense of humor but he seemed very confident and sure of himself. Mom later told me he's like an old man. I can see it. He's a good guy, I can tell. He's been through a lot and I think that's helped cultivate him into the young man he is. It was an absolute pleasure photographing him and sincerely one of the best sessions I've photographed in a long time. I am so happy with the results. We had such a great time photographing Mia for her senior portraits! She is a talented senior from Shawnee Heights and one of those people who is just naturally photogenic. She brought so much personality to her session with lots of beautiful smiles, great expressions, and some really amazing outfits. Her dogs joined us for part of the session, which made things even more fun. We started at Shawnee Lake and later headed downtown, finishing up around the Cyrus Hotel and the Capitol. Even though the weather wasn't ideal and we had to deal with some rain, Mia absolutely shined in every location.
