Jack Jackson - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Portraits

 Jack came in for a newborn session with his mom. And he had a special challenge for us. He didn’t want to settle right away so we had to work with him to get a few shots.  That happens sometimes lol but no worries, we still captured some adorable images of him! Jack was one of the chunkiest babies we’ve ever seen. He had light blonde hair and round cheeks. One of our favorite images was Jack with his dad’s baseball Jersey. Thanks for checking out his shoot, Jack is such a cute baby!
 T.H. Peterson: How did you decide on Jack for the name?

Lindsey: My husband and I had always wanted a boy named Jack Jackson.

 T.H. P.: Any fun pregnancy stories?
Lindsey: I am short and towards the end I could barely drive because my belly kept me from getting close enough to the pedals
 T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw him?
Lindsey: He was beautiful and total worth the last 9 months. 
T.H. P.: How was your labor?
Lindsey: It was far from amazing. I had a c section and hemorrhaged afterwards and had to have two blood transfusions. I am very thankful for people who donate blood! 
T.H. P.:  Best part of being pregnant?
Lindsey: Feeling him move around.

Kate and Adam's big day - Governor's Row House - Topeka Wedding Photography

Photographing Kate and Adam’s wedding was such a special experience. What was supposed to be a gray, rainy day turned into beautiful sunshine, and it honestly felt like everything just came together perfectly. Their venue had this warm, welcoming feel, and you could tell right away that this wasn’t just a wedding—it felt like a big family reunion. So many loved ones had traveled in, and the support from their family was obvious in every moment. Noble's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Noble was such a sweet little guy to photograph. He had the cutest expressions when he was awake—so curious and just taking everything in with those little eyes. When he drifted off to sleep, he was completely peaceful and relaxed, making it easy to capture those soft, cozy newborn moments that parents love so much. He was calm, content, and just so easy to adore throughout the entire session. We also got to spend time photographing him with his big brother, and that part was especially special. At first, big brother was a little hesitant and unsure, but he warmed up beautifully as the session went on.   Grady was such a sweet little guy, and he had a full head of hair that just made him even more adorable. His two big sisters were completely in love with him, and it showed in every photo. They were so gentle and sweet, and honestly, I was really impressed with how interested and cooperative they were during the session. We were able to get some really beautiful images of all three of them together, and those moments felt really special. Avery and Jeremiah’s engagement session at the Kansas Museum was such a great evening. The sun was out, and there was this soft haze in the sky that made everything feel extra warm and beautiful. It was one of those nights where the light just works perfectly, and it made their photos feel even more special. I’ve had the chance to photograph them before, and it was just as fun this time around. These two are so easy to photograph because they genuinely enjoy being around each other. We photographed sweet baby Landry, and she was absolutely adorable. One thing that immediately caught my eye was how much hair she had—and it was in the cutest little mohawk. I even grabbed a close-up of it because the shape was just so funny and perfect. She was such a good baby the whole time, and her session felt really calm and easygoing. Lovelyn's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

There are sessions that just feel special from the start, and Lovelyn was one of those babies. She was so sweet, so cute, and had the most calm, mild-mannered personality. She made my job easy with her adorable little expressions and how relaxed she was through most of the session. Toward the end she got a little fussy, but even then she was still so good. It’s always amazing how much personality can already show up in such a tiny little human, and Lovelyn definitely had it. What made this session even more meaningful for me was getting to photograph Hunter again—this time as a mom. I took her senior portraits several years ago, and now here she is with a baby of her own. That’s one of the things I love most about what I do, getting to be part of these moments as life comes full circle. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish. You could just feel how much Mom and Dad adore him—there was so much love in every little moment, and it made capturing these images feel really special. Big brother was a huge fan right from the start. He was so proud, giving Tate hugs and kisses and wanting to be close to him the whole time.
